An identically drilled RX1 and RX1s will have equivalent performance out of the box.

You are saying that a 4K no-polish solid and a 4K polished pearlized version of the same cover, drilled identically, are going to give me the same reaction; that in effect the two RX1 balls are interchangeable.

This doesn't pass the smell test. Really?...

Yes, out of box performance will be equivalent. Same block, same Ra rating.

The idea behind the RX1s was a cosmetic expansion of the lowest price point, similar intent to the QZ2, as the Orange was very polarizing. In the lower price points the performance is definitely there, the color choice wasn't yet. Not every release is going to be a blockbuster new hook in the box ball, there are already plenty of companies that do this. The release schedule at HQ is very conservative and well thought out. To most of us the concept of color choice isn't much of a factor, but to the person walking in and buying their first ball, #1 is Price and #2 is Color. It is also easier financially for someone who has never tried a Motiv ball to try out an RX1s than a Cruel. But once they do, they come back for an SR2 or QZ2, and then a TR2 or a Cruel.

Science doesn't always smell good. The amount of research and raw data available now in regards to ball reaction is staggering. In the last few years it has significantly changed how we think about ball motion, layouts, and surface adjustments.

These are very complimentary. The pin up is one 60x35@4.25" no hole, and the pin down one 60x70@4.25" P3 hole. As expected the 35* VAL angle shows length with backend, the 70* VAL angle shows a slower transition with less backend.

Yup, spare time is short right now, but I'm working on it. It is difficult to find a decent shot outside of the league schedule.

Interesting. This is counter to everything I ever thought I knew, which admittedly isn't a whole heck of a lot. I'm glad you're keeping on top of all this for us and sharing what you know.

So... My first thought after using my RX1 a bit is that I need something longer still. The correct thing for me to do then, if I opt to buy another ball, is to pick up another RX1, no matter if its orange or silver, and have it drilled differently. Correct?

For a definitive answer I need to know the layout on your current RX1.

You know what's going to look really cool sitting in the three ball tote. RX1 silver, QZ2, cruel..... That's going to be eye catching...
