I might be kind of a weirdo, who knows, but I like taking pictures of the ball & the layout before and after I put some holes in balls. Anyway - I feel like this forum is sometimes "strictly business" and figured maybe we could spice up conversation! I like to see what other's use(grip wise) whether its grips or no grips and bare everything like me! Anyway - show off some "fresh off the press" equipment and maybe start up some conversation between balls/grips/whatever it may be.. I'll start it off! 2 Cruel #2 - 80* X 6" X 30, P2.5 - 4000(box)+Power Gel Polish(picture taken before surface adjustments) Ascent Solid #1 - 40* X 4.5" X 55*, P2 - Box surface Ascent Solid #2 - 70* X 6" X 45*, Dual Thumb - 4000+Power Gel Polish(picture was taken before surface adjustments were made) Ascent Pearl - 60* X 5" X 50*, P3 - Box surface I'm really anal retentive on the way the ball feels on my hand. I generally like "the feel of the ball" more than grips/urethane slugs because (to me) I come out of the ball cleaner with no grab, etc. Thumb is 29/32 with .035 mill. Middle finger 43/64 with .040 mill and Ring finger is 41/64 with .060 mill. Span cut to cut is 4 13/16 by 4 13/16. Also, I'm really weird about my beveling/sanding/texture of each hole as well. I find it frustrating at times thinking to myself that switch grip/iT grip would be entirely easier than doing everything/repeating everything to be identical on bare holes. I just thought I'd try something new and get some conversation started! Keep MOTIVated folks!

@Stroke - did you use any polish on your raptor attack? Trying to find a good surface that I can get some use on the lanes out of. Mine is really rolly, midlane type of heavy roll and I'm looking for a surface that will give me that heavy roll but also produce enough hit to carry through the pins.

Funny story about my attack. To answer your question, it is currently 360/1000/1500. Plan on putting some polish on it before the fall season as i dont see a huge amount of oil in my home house. The attack is a rolly piece for me anyways. It carries the pocket extremely well but just never turned the corner as i expected. I went with a really strong layout (50x4.5x25) because i felt that the cover was weak and it needed a strong layout to get the most out of the ball. This (according to Justin) created a hook/set reaction. The current house that i am bowling in this summer has a tremendous amount of oil in the mids and backend so anything polished, especially on the left side, was going 60ft and just pushing through the pins. With the current surface, i went into my home house and couldn't keep the ball left of the head pin (home house is drier and cleaner on the backend). So i will be hitting it with some polish and it will be accompanied by my thrash and primal tv4.
I have found that you have to treat these covers like big b covers, meaning low grit then high grit pads and/or a coat of polish. Had the same issue with my primal, loved the carry, hated the reaction but couldnt stop striking. So i hit it with 360/1000 then brunswick high gloss and the ball rolls extremely well and still retains the incredible hitting power that i fell in love with.

Yeah I myself was looking for that "defined" movement and didn't catch it with 60 X 4.5 X 35, P1 - Very mellow piece. I need something with its type of roll, but nothing upcoming with tournaments down the way a bit will let me get to use it. Right now I have changed the surface to 2000 with a coat of black magic XL. I want to throw it on a fresh house pattern and see how it will roll, but in all reality I don't want that type of reaction in league play. We'll see how it goes. It'll be a condition specific ball for sure.
