A high tilt number is an indication of a small diameter track. That will limit the amount of friction a ball can create, and will result in erratic reaction and sensitivity.
Trying to keep your hand under and behind the ball a bit more to raise your track and increase diameter is one method, working the inside of the ball as it were.
