Being a strong asymmetrical core w/aggressive coverstock, the Cruel will read the mid's quite well so no real need for an 'advanced' layout. Layouts will be determined by your ball speed & rev rate I am avg. on both I did a pin under ring, 45x4.25x45 w/2000 surface adjustment & i works very well at reading the mid's, heavy roll but still have plenty on the b/e. Layout good for me on sport/pba type patterns. Don't throw it on THS. Hope this helps & welcome to Motiv-nation.

Need a bit more information on your execution and lane condition before we can lock down a specific layout for you.

My rev rate is 400 and my ball speed is 18-19. The shot is 41ft. Looking for a layout that will read medium to oily with a sharp break point.

Do up a 60x20@4.75". If it requires a hole, try to throw it before placing the hole. If the reaction is what you want, P2 hole. If you need more midlane, place a P3 hole.
Depending on your volume you may need 1k Abralon to cut the heavy oil.

Justin, you have listed some great advice in any of the posts I've read previously. A couple of questions:
Some of your drillings you've suggested are 'off sheet;' i.e. not listed on the Motiv drill sheets. Where are you drawing some of your angle suggestions from?
What is your opinion of the "5x5x4.5 (60*x5"x70*)" drilling? We've had some good luck with the 3 Cruels we have in our center.
Where can a driller pick up Mo's gradient weight hole chart?
When a person is looking for a very angular reaction, what do you recommend?

You can see the ball shift gears soon as the core releases the stored energy. I am very pleased with results I am having with the ball. The layout works well for how I roll the ball.

Justin you had asked me in a previous post about how the ball was working for me, tonight (10-19-10) I rolled 836 with back to back 300's. Thank you to all who helped me with the layout suggestions, they were very helpful!

The drill sheet is a basic guideline. Unfortunately there are variables that the drill sheet doesn't and can't account for, like the bowler's speed, rev rate, and tilt. My recommendations are based on the specific information that the bowler provides about him or herself. Unfortunately a sheet of paper can't weigh all of the variables.
The 60x70@5" layout is a great "read" layout, it doesn't jump off the spot and rolls heavy. It doesn't like early friction, shine helps that a bit, but you'll know when to put it away and grab your SR2.

Rev/speed balanced, 70x20@5"
Rev dominant 80x20@5.5"
