QZ2 Rico drill, not going long enough, OOB surface, weight hole wasnt drilled real big (but I am thinking it would be nice if it were smaller). Suggestions for correcting?

Being that its Rico, it doesnt really matter where I stand or throw over, the ball ignores the lane and comes into the head pin in about the same spot every time. Notice I say head pin, because its too strong to find the pocket. Consistently high. May be great for a sport shot, but I cant use it on a house shot the way it is now.

Any ideas? 4000/power gel out the box, dont think I can do much if anything to the surface. May be able to partially plug the fingers? Any advice is appreciated. Goal is to be able to use it on house shots with less surface (like OOB finish) and when competing in tourneys with flat, long, or heavy oil be able to add some surface and use it then as well.

Adding a bit of surface will help it read the mids a bit better and pull some reaction out of the backend. It's worth a try.

Thats what I was thinking... but I wasnt sure what surfaces there are beyond 4000... I will ask my pro shop guy. Thanks, let you know the result

Edit* Wait... add MORE surface? So take the surface down to say, 2000? Polish or no polish? It's funny you suggest that, because one of the local coaches told me the same thing, and I thought that would be counter productive, because it would start moving earlier and probably end up stronger...

Do you suggest maybe just knocking the polish off first? Let me know and I will get it done tomorrow and throw it in practice before league.

Hit it with 2000 abralon, basically just took the polish off. It definitely weakened the ball reaction.

Shot 662 and 686 with it so far this week. Tonight I bowl at a center that has some bad transitioning issues, inconsistent oil patterns, etc. Tonight will be the real RICO test. :)
