I hope to have this ball the first week in Dec. and been crunching the different layouts in my head and I can't decide. a few I've been considering:
75x5x25- will this give a snappy reaction or will the ball lay off with this core?
70x5.5x40- I have a 70x2.5x40 on my qz2 and love it for the fresh shot I'm bowling on but this ball burns up in the heads by mid-end of second game.
65x5.5x35-I think that's one that Justin used and it looked good in his vid, don't know his stats or lane condition though.
bowling on anvilanes,med/lite to dry with so so backends and a hooking heads and track.
my stats are:
speed 16-18@ pins
400 revs-averege
A/R 45-average
10* Tilt
Pap-4-7/8x7/16 up

Looking forward to the boards thoughts,
Steve

Once I punch up a couple, I'll have more insight. We have time :)

I'm think of going with a 60x5.5x70 Most likly P4 hole depending on the static weights. That will put it in my 130 digree sweet spot. I had a T-Road Pearl like that, and liked the layout. I want to see what it will be like with a weaker core and solid cover. Perhaps a good compliment and step down from my Rico QZ1, but less overall hook as my 60x4.5x30 RX1.

I've decided that I'm going 70x4.5x50 pin up w/ p3 for every ball I drill up from now on. That puts the pin above my ring finger and the cg kicked out to the right just a tad of my palm. The asymmetrical balls have to be looked at a little differently, but the 70/4.5/50 up layout seems to be my best of any so far. I'll be punching the silver rx1 that way too.

I foresee using this ball quite a bit. It is just too darn beautiful. I have a weakly drilled Orange RX1 for the real dry stuff. I'll be placing 2 strong drills, one fast transitioning, one slow transitioning.

One will be a 60x35@4.25" P3 Hole.

The other will be 60x70@4.25" P3 Hole.

Pics and vid soon.

Sounds like a good plan and solid layouts Justin. My 60x4.5x30 is a beast on the lighter broken down shots. You'll like it. I used a P1 hole though I needed a bit more length and smoother transition.

Funny we will have similar layed out RX1s in out bags. Hay what works works.

I just posted a new vid of my QZ1, and RX1. Check out how I followed up on the same line with the RX1.

Notice the Tropical Storm the one shot next me mine. WOW big difference from storms light oil ball to the RX1.

Good luck and get the pics and vid up asap. Most of us don't that the fortune to be a staffer ;)

Combine a Longer Pin placement with a small VAL angle.

5.5" and a 20* VAL angle will give forward roll out of the hook transition. That will give you the hook set look.

Good call Justin. Steve if it's too flippy then hit it with surface and keep stepping it down untill you get the reaction you need. Go as far as you need. I've gone as far as 400 grit. That's what the pros do, only trick is kicking the corners out.

Mike

P.S. Thanks Brett for the info on the QZ1, 500 grit light polished worked awsome on the chameleon.
