Recently picked up a used one as I wanted to see how that core fit my style.

I was not thrilled with the drill (it was pin under with the MB very close to my thumbhole.) to make it legal we had to add a P# hole (very small one)

The ball was polished - unsure of abrlon or polish used.

Ball had no turn what so ever on viper pattern. It was straighter than any spare ball I have ever thrown.

i slowed down and put a few more revs and got some movement, then adjusted so my hand was getting more to the side of the ball (not preferred but this was the only point I got any hook.)

then I switched to some lanes with a broken down THS. Again I had to get my hand to the right side of the ball to get any hook out of it.

My question is, I read the website it says MB should be 4 inches from PAP - I am note sure it is.....I think it is a lot closer

I also took the polish off and it seemed to move a little better..... should I just take it in and completely move the layout? at this point I am not thrilled with the purchase at all. I have enjoyed throwing all other Motiv Balls I have - though last night there was something severely off and I couldn't throw consistently worth a damn. Should I chaulk up my problems with the C51 to a lousy night on the lanes.....or should I go back to the drawing board?

Or should I just sell it........so torn

I would re-drill it.

The core is sooo strong (both the primary differential and the intermediate differential numbers are maxed), that it can flip/quit if it is not matched to your PAP/style.

It sounds like (without knowing your specific stats) the ball makes a quick jerk at the spot and is done.

Post your info regarding speed, tilt, rev rate, axis rotation, axis tilt and we can get you a much better match regarding layout.

Also, mention what ball motion you are fishing for.

Thanks.

Okay, SO after having so many problems weds, I decided to go bowl for an hour last night with just the LE, Thrash Frenzy (another ball I got used recently) and just work on my release and see if I could get a better idea what was going on.

Sure enough first game the LE was straight as an arrow and the Frenzy was solid. I used the Frenzy for a majority of strike balls 179 180 186 - not bad considering I wasn't using a spare ball at all, and goofing around with different spare shooting styles.

But after two games, I again felt the need to figure out the LE.....I started trying different lines, pushing the ball farther out, and then I decided to get a bit more finger in the ball as I just wasn't seeing solid rotation.....

BAM....the C51 LE starts reacting like a rice burner on a NOS boost. It was like a light coming on. Everyball I threw no matter where seemed to be correcting and hitting the pocket I went 237 with one split open, a washout I picked up and an 8 on the end.....all the rest strikes. Next game I had 3 opens and the rest strikes 217, last game two spares and struck out to the second to last ball for a 246......a 700 set with a ball I couldn't turn when I first got to the alley.

My only thought is perhaps I wasn't getting the core revved up enough to do what it needed to?

i finished out my 8 game practice session with a 196 (with 3 splits.....I needed to move and was stubborn) and a 243 for a 212 average over 8 games (for me that is pretty damn solid numbers and when you factor in no normal spare ball I am used to, that number seems to impress me more. I think I may keep the ball as is, until I get another 1-2 practice sessions in.

If this ball continues to hit the pins like this, what looked like a dud may end up as my go to stud in the future......

Much more impressed and comfortable after last night. I will get all my speed and revs stuff up. problem is, my speed looks different in each house I go (I assume it is where the sensor measure the ball or how it reads it - I think it is around 14.5-15) though with Motiv stuff I have been trying to load the ball a bit more and I think it may be closer to 15.5-16.5 range now. I have a high track (not sure exact angle of tilt), people say I have low revs, I need to measure because they look more med than low...(maybe Medium towards low side of scale?)..but defintiely I am no cranker.....

i have been very impressed by the Motive stuff I have been throwing.....putting up good numbers when my game is on.....(better than before when my game was on) - I really only got them to do some comparisons with other balls I throw......that backfired.....big time.

Okay so more about this ball.

Since adding a slight bit more hand to this ball, it is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

i managed to get 4th place in an ABT tournament this weekend on Paris pattern. Lots struggled.....while I didn't get a 700 I ended with 615 series which was second highest scratchand top qualifier for sunday squad, unfortunately a littl ecold weather and some long pauses caused me to loose my smooth release and I came in 4th....oh well

So i go to practice with a friend. I proceed to rattle off a 697 series (should have easily been 700 as I was goofing around with 10 pins trying something different. The amazing part. that 697 would have also been a 900 no tap series. i had nothing but 9 or strike until the 4th frame of the 4th game.

I have put up some extremely high scores (at least for me....) on a regular basis with this ball. it is ridiculously good.

On a side note I picked up a venom Strike and a TX-1 I was so excited for the strike...and the TX-1 was just a bonus I got in a trade.....oh my did I have that one wrong. The TX-1 may quickly become my favorite....holy cow it was AMAZING......Striek was good too, but I preferred the Tx-1 for reaction last night....we shall see.
