So, here is the story.
My brother picks up a C51 from Ebay back in like, November. It was in great shape, and he paid less than $80 or so, with shipping.
So, I'm looking at this monster, all scuffed up to 500 grit Abralon, and wondering who the heck would roll this aggressive SOB?
Enter my pal Doug who is very speed dominant; has shot a 275, a 245 and a 279 the last three sets out with it. It is the only ball he can hook on my fresh THS.

So, if you're looking for a good speed dominant layout, try:
55* by 4 3/4 by 40*. BTW, for those others who haven't converted yet (and you should, and soon): 4 3/4" Pin to PAP; 4 1/4" PSA to PAP with a 2 1/2 pin buffer.

I'll let you know after tomorrow how Doug fares with his new rock, the LE.

I just ordered a Cruel Le. Justin gave me a layout I am getting drilled up at 55 X 30 @ 4.25. I am curious what different a reaction these two would have since the numbers seem similar to me. Trying tro get educated.

That is consistent with what I have seen from the Cruel. Most speed dominant players get 55 degree drilling angles. I'll only use 50 in very very rare cases.

The difference is in the pin distance. In asymmetrical balls, the closer to 2.25" the more the ball retains axis rotation, the closer to 6.75" the more forward roll after the second transition.

The layout I gave you will tend to be a tick more angular off of friction, a foot maybe 2 longer and a board or 2 more on the backend.

Thanks Justin that clears up what I thought.
