how do you drill a ball to get it to slow down during the first transition, so you cannot throw it thru the break point . speed dom players have this trouble all the time, will the layout help or is this just a surface issue ?

surface for sure. engine versus tire. can't steer? don't need more engine, need better tires.

If you have a bowler that can throw a ball sanded with 360 Abralon through the breakpoint, its not the ball its the bowler. Definitely time for some coaching.

Lol, yep that is true.
For speed dominant players with some revs, tho', one just has to try to keep the drill angle lower, and match the surface first and foremost, right?

It is about speed rev ratio. You can throw it 20MPH, but you have to rev it 550. You can throw it 15mph with 100rpm and still be very speed dominant.
With the strength of today's asymmetrical balls, especially ones like the Cruel, if it is going through the breakpoint at 360 it is time to take some video and change some things.
