I've talked my dad into making his first motiv purchase. He wants an aggressive ball with an arc motion. I do not have his specs yet but his speed is 14.5-15.5 mph and he has slow revs. We play on a 36' short oil house shot (that seems to change every couple of weeks) You may be able to tell the synthetics of the lanes from the youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ipyWJUngfQI was thinking either cruel or cruel LE but would love some layout advise to get the most out of the ball to make him happy enough to stay a Motiv customer. I'm also not sure that a cruel would be the best option for short oil but his low rev rate is what makes me think this. I'll post his stats up later today/Wednesday.

Certainly a TR2 or SR2 would be a good option. Layout is important, but even more so is the surface prep. Anvil lane is a very hard surface, so getting the ball to roll at the right times the key to striking. If he likes the reaction of the jigsaw corner, you might even consider a TV4. Just make sure thesurfaceis good. A nice benchmark drill of something like 55* by 4 or 4 1/2 by 45* would be a good place to start.
Way to take care of pops!

He was mostly a St0rm man. I have gotten him to try a few other brands as of late. He loved the roll of his secrete agent (he still uses but just not strong enough) and he liked the virtual gravity (ball died quickly which helped me move him from the big S) I was thinking the Tv4 might be too angular, but I could be wrong and the drilling might make a difference. His ball rev, or lack there of has me worried about using the Sr2. A friend of Mine has the Tr2 but has struggled with it (though he picked it up when we had a 40' oil shot and now its 36' dry-quick.) By no means am I shooting these options down, I'm just offering my train of thought and worries so that they can be discussed.
thanks for all the help!

I would do an LE for him, the asymmetry is going to be an asset. You'll have to tune the breakpoint trigger with surface, he'll probably be happy at 1k. I'd do a 55x35@4" on the LE, he needs something that will start up and roll heavy on it's own. The Primal could be an option, but I think he will match up best with the LE.

Doesn't change the layout recommendation, just remember surface will be key here. Don't place a hole till after he throws it a few games.

Justin. Having seen you notice a sweet spot in the Le. I have this ball on order for my dad and was wondering if Everthing still holds true for this layout.
Thanks!

I'm sure he'll change the recommendation. He changed mine from what he originally told me and my god my LE is a lane eater. Beautiful line to the pins.
