I have a layout on by QZ1 that has the pin centered below fingers. Ct is kicked out 45 degrees from center of grip. I changed the weight hole to a p2 based off my 3 1/2 x 1/2^ pap. On drier house shots this ball has a smooth hook off the spot with lots of drive. What would this layout be like on my orange Recon with same 2k polished surface.

If the surfaces were equally prepared, you could expect:
* Length- because the Recon core's RG is higher than the Quadfire core (2.59 in. versus 2.55 in.)
* More length- because the Recon core's differential is less than that of the Quadfire, meaning less flare (and more storage potential of rotational energy); (.025 in. versus .043)
* A bit less hook potential overall, as the Z cover has a higher Ra value (surface roughness average) as compared to the X cover.
Bottom line- more length, less overall hook by a few boards, so it should make a very nice compliment to your QZ1p for when the lanes toast up.

The X cover on the Recon is lower absorption and lower Ra than the Z shell, so as Mick said you will see more length and less overall hook.

We are goin to go a bit more aggresive than previously posted. It has a 4 1/8 pin out so we are going to drill it at 30 x 3.50 x 20 sand to 4k with polish. should turn nice if I don't overthrow the breakpoint.
