I have a problem with my Raptor. I currently have drilled 55x5x35 P3 hole 2k surface. Seems to be blowing through the first transition and seems to be no power on the back end. My Sigma is a bomb! avg about 240 lately with it and absolutely LOVE it. Need suggestions, thanks.

I had this problem with my Raptor, also. I think you will find that the second transition also happens way to fast, causing the ball to kinda jerk and set, without the motion you're seeking achieved.

I plugged and redrilled my Raptor (previously 65*by 4 1/2" by 35*) to 50* by 5" by 60* and it is a beauty now.

Plamormick - What type of reaction did you get with a 50x5x60 layout? Seems like the 50 would give a quicker 1st transition and the 60 would get a longer 2nd transition? Thanks

This layout lets me move in, even on the fresh, and just wheel it (THS). The ball motion is smooth and arc-y; i think you may be right about the earlier first transition, but with the longer second, it allows me to play in the oil deeper. Before, I was pinched- I couldn't move in because the ball wouldn't start soon enough, and I couldn't move out, for fear of over-reaction, or the ever-prevelant turn, jerk and burn-up. I didn't really need a long-strong solid ball (I have plenty of pearls); this layout fits the bill nicely, providing not just smooth and strong, but continuation, too. I haven't shot any videos lately, because my camera produces such terrible video. I hope to pick up an HD camera soon, and then I can put something up.

I seem to have the same problem Plamormick did. I get trapped because I need to move in but the ball does not start up early enough or at all, then I move right and I get too quick turn and burn. I have the surface @ 1k and it seems to read real early but does not give me the motion down lane. So I was thinking like Plamormick suggested, dropping the drill angle to get a quicker 1st transition. I was thinking of something like 40 x 4.5 x 60?? Thanks

I'm having the same problem with mine as well. I've taken the surface down to 1k and she still goes pretty straight. The ball has about 50 games on it. Any suggestions? I have a 409 rev rate so it should be pretty strong.

seeing all these posts about the raptor not working is a tad bit discouraging as i am in the market for a Heavy oil ball....

oviewan asked me to put a video together with my Raptor, so after seeing some of the replies here, I'll endeavor to get this done SOON.

BTW, I was able to use my Raptor restored to 4k abralon after the redrill; I'm having terrific results with it.

Remember, there is no magic layout or one-size-fits all arrangement for ball layouts- 60* by 5 by 40* works like magic for me in symmetrical cored balls, but I haven't had much luck with the aggressive, dynamic ayms that MOTIV has released. That's why I'm so pleased that this modification of the 60 by 5 by 70 layout listed on MOTIV's drill sheet for asyms has worked so well for me (and another bowler here, too). The Raptor is too phenomenal of a ball for people to get a sour feel for it. Sometimes, we just need to reason out why a ball is or isn't working, and then work the problem. There is always a solution to find here. There are so many amazing people here on the forum, you'd be hard pressed not to get a solution after posting here.
