While this is true, plugging and redrilling is better than taking a $100 to $130 hit on selling a used ball (and double that if you buy another one to put a different layout on it).

I struggled with this during the weekend I ran a couple of Test Drive events. I stewed for 2 days, before I decided to just bite the bullet and plug it. I was even offered $100 cash for my Raptor on Saturday, but held off. I started plugging it on Sunday night late, and had it ready for bowling by Tuesday. And now, it is my go-to ball for Tuesdays (and the only ball in my bag that allows me to throw it for all three games, albeit with a few adjustments).

My point is that when you reach the end of the rope with tinkering with surface, one shouldn't be afraid of plug and redrill, if your pro shop is worth their salt. Just sayin'.

plugged and re drilled my raptor and use it a lot it strikes a lot best set with it so far 770. don't be afraid just do it !!

I wasn't against plugging and redrilling. It is not for me. If I lay out a ball and drill it and it doesn't work as expected then I adjust surface. If that doesn't work, I don't plug, I don't resell, I give them away to friends.

The big thing about plug and redrill is that technically you need to find the CG again, as it will be different, especially if weight holes have been used. Also, the RG and differential have changed and can not be recalculated easily. Plug material is not the same mass as the core and cover materials and really changes the characteristics.

Also, as a former PBA member, I was used to not being allowed to throw plugged stuff. Those rules have been modified a bit but it is ingrained in my brain.

No offense to anyone, this is just all my personal feelings on the topic.

Tried 1k with polish, now it's a 7pin ball. I'm not sure what to do with it at this point. I'm leaning towards selling it or redrilling.
