I just received a Motive Raptor Attack to try but I am looking for some assistance with a good drilling layout. Below are my specs. Any advice will be helpful.
Ball Raptor Attack 15 lb Top Wt 3.4 oz Pin 3.5 in.
Bowler Left Handed Speed - 14.3 mph Rev Rate - 265 (Tweener) Axis Tilt - 20 degrees PAP - 4.5 over and 0.5 up Track - Mid to High Lanes - Both Wood / Syn. Oil - Medium
Normal shot is 13 to 8 with a smoother arc, but is willing to go deeper as long as the ball does not pickup too early or flip super late. Have found both of those as bad news with the ball speed factor.
Thanks again for any assistance with the layout.

This ball you will find works best as long as you keep it in oil i throw mine 18+mph with a lot of revolution putting it down on 20 and pushing it out to 8-10 and the ball does the rest!

If your specs are listed correctly, a layout of 45* by 5" by 55* should give you a smooth and powerful arc with a nice controlled backend.
Don't be afraid to adjust the surface of the ball once it is drilled to further dial in your reaction.

For further learning about the Dual Angle method, visit the wiki on bowlingchat.net. I cannot do any better at explaining this topic than what you will find there.

plamormick is correct, in that www.bowlingchat.net is a great source of info for the Dual Angle & many other bowling topics. In a nut shell the first # is the angle made by the Pin-to-PAP line & the Pin-to-MB (or CG on symm balls). This is your 'drilling angle'. The second # is the distance of the Pin from the PAP. The third # is the angle made by the Pin-to-Pap line & the VAL. In general, the smaller the drilling angle the quicker the response to friction & sharper angle you will get at the break point. However, you ball driller must take into account your ball speed, rev rate, axis tilt to best determine what layout you need for a given ball & a given lane condition. Hope this helps alittle & good luck!
