The specs for the Cruel I drilled up says that the surface is 2000 wet sanded. Is the surface sanded with 'ANSI' rated wet sand paper or is it sanded with a 2000 Abralon? They say 'wet sanded' in the spec sheet so I'm assuming wet sand paper but would like confirmation if you can. Thanks

Since sanding material can be used wet or dry for a desired finish, they are designating that during the sanding progress a liquid was used. In the question of the "ANSI" or "FEPA" rating used for the sanding material is not stated. Maybe Motiv needs to state which rating was used for the sanding material. The 2000 abralon has an equivalent between ANSI rating of 1000 and 1200 which is 9 microns, while 2000 ANSI rating is 1 micron, which is below 4000 Abralon at 3 microns.

Exactly! Before I start altering surface I'd like to know where I started.

Originally the surfaces were finished with Abralon. Due to the short lifespan on the pads, an alternative abrasive system was found. From thorough Ra measurements, the Abralon final Ra and the alternative final Ra are extremely close. Using Abralon/Siaair pads to restore the surface will get you back to box surface. Also there will be a bit of variability based on how worn the pads are. Unfortunately without a profilometer, matching surfaces before and after is hardly an exact science.

Thanks for the response Justin I appreciate it. On a side note I took the Cruel down to 500 Abralon then 1000 Abralon. Used to Brunswick polish to get some shine and holy crap did that wake this ball up! This ball gets through the fronts like butter, reads the midlane strong, and then just rips off the dry. I'm a tilt challenged, medium revs guy that depends on predictability and accuracy to score so this is quite a shock to have such a cannon at my disposal. Anyways just thought I'd share.

Nice. Hope that monster does well for you. Good idea on the finish; i have a very tilt challenged stroker looking for a ball that pops- now I have another option to offer him. Thanks!

If it helps you at all my specs are 15.5mph at the pindeck, 325-350 revs, 45* of rotation, 10* of tilt, and a pap of 5 3/4 and 1 1/2 up. I laid out my Cruel 75-5-50 with a small P2 hole. The ball gave me the above mentioned look on middle of the road fyi. Good luck to you.
