Need a ball that will produce at slower speeds on broken down lanes.

The Ascent's will do the trick. The solid is smoother & arch-ier off the pattern while the pearl is more angular. I have a good Motiv customer that uses the pearl on our THS & is doing quite well w/it.

If you can get your hands on a GT1, that would also be a good ball for the senario you stated. Can't wait for the next Gear core ball to come out . . hint, hint, wink, wink !!!

Best of luck & welcome to Motiv-nation !!

So out of all the Motiv balls, the ascent line will be the most predictable on unpredictably broken down lanes? Nothing would work better than entry level balls?

And there's a new one coming? When?!

The only issue with stronger gear on unpredictable and drier conditions, especially with slower ball speed, is their tendency to react quickly to friction. This can create issues with carry and also make it even more difficult to get to the pocket on spotty conditions.

An Ascent would be a great choice, also the cleanliness of the cover on the Primal Impulse would work as well. You might be able to shine up a Thrash, but the other 2 would be better choices. You don't always need a high performance ball to strike.

So it's either a an Ascent Pearl or an Impulse? I didn't know the impulse would work well on broken down lanes. Is the qz2 or even the backdraft out of the question?

Primal Impulse is the cleanest through the front in the line. A blue QZ2 would also work well.
