My wife is now bowling with us, and well she is using a 40 yr old poly. Novice bowler likes to "back it up". Have started working with her. She needs a new ball. Im thinking sigma or thrash. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Larry

If it was me and I was teaching a "novice" bowler to "hook" the ball and spot bowl rather than looking at pins. I would start with an entry level piece one of the Motiv Ascent balls and work parallel to the gutter hooking into the 1-3 assuming she is right handed or vicea versa. More hooking equipment will force her left and have to learn how to belly the ball. This also assumes she is playing on more THS type conditions.
Maybe an Ascent Solid and adjust surface to lane condition and her ball speed. Good coaching and correct fit would start her a long way to understand correlation to boards, arrows, pins and how to line up plus explaining to her how lane conditioner is applied to lane and how the bowling ball reacts with said conditioner.
