What role does top weight and pin placement play in drilling a bowling ball. Every time I order a ball I'm asked for weight and placement but really don't know how they affect my drilling/shot. I just don't know what boxes to check. I am an older bowler, stroker, probably throwing about 14-15 mph and a rev rate around 300. Sad to say, I don't know any of the other specs everyone's always talking about. I generally check the 2-3" pin placement and 2-3 oz weight, the only reason being they seem "right". But, I may not be helping myself. Perhaps a real ball driller can help me out here. If you can, thanks in advance.

In regards to ball motion these factors alone are irrelevant. Generally, 3" pin/3oz top weight is the most versatile in regards to layouts. If you use switch grips, higher top and longer pins become an asset.
