I know it has been mentioned before, but I would like to see Motiv manufacture some non aggressive equipment such as a plastic or urethane ball similar to the Natural from Storm. Storm needs some competition in that area. Bring it on Motiv, let's see it happen!!!!

depend what you want exactly for which lane condition.

QZ1 purple or SR2 or GT1 are very good choices to start first time with Motiv. 3 differents balls (Rg, Diff, Cover..)

Personnaly, SR2 is the "benchmark" ball.

I drilled SR2 and i was very surprised. It's now my favorite ball. My next one will be SX1 for broken down lanes or where SR2 is too much after 3-5 games.

If you're unsure and you got a budget, I would opt for QZ1 Purple to start.

I have the GT1, SR2, and QZ1 red.... Absolutely love the QZ1 and SR2. Just looking for something tamed down for the high rev power players, like myself.

My current favorite dry lane ball is my SX1:

4000 Abralon and high gloss polish.

65x30 5 1/2

You could vary this pattern a bit to 70x40 5 3/4 and that would create a longer smoother read.

For me, the above SX1 pushes very cleanly and has enough off of friction to carry the 10.

The low absorption cover of the SX makes it very suited to drier conditions.

That layout the Justin has pictured is my FAVORITE layout. I use that on most of my equipment then fill in the gaps with other layouts. This does a good job of decreasing the flare and getting the ball down the lane. The only problem is it may pop too much on the back for what you're looking for because of how much energy it stores for the back.

Guys, I guess you don't understand the point of this topic. I am not looking for a new Motiv ball. I have the GT1, SR2, and Red QZ1 and I love them... The point of the topic was to discuss future ideas coming from bowlers to present to the Motiv staff.

Storm is getting back into the market with a urethane ball that is all the buzz in the industry at the moment. I was making the suggestion maybe Motiv should look into something similar. I still also believe Motiv should introduce a plastic ball for spare shooting.

Believe me, I am the only bowler in my leagues and tournaments so far to throw the Motiv equipment and I have been promoting the company as a strong competitor in the industry. I would just like to see them keep up with what the industry and bowlers are chatting about and looking for.

I agree with you, Motiv has a great line up, that's not in question. However the lane #1 liberator gives me a look that no other reactive I have ever drilled in any way has given me. The trick isn't to make an old school urethane ball, but take what storm, Lane #1, and AMF (Hype Urethane) has done. Give it a core that will flare 3 + inches. That will give you almost no carrydown, and will let the rev dominant player play their natural game (without over throwing) in their comfort zone on the shorter, or dryer patterns, as well as square up more on the sport patterns.

That being said I love motiv, 90% of all the equipment I have has "M" on it. But untill Motiv makes a urethane with a strong core, I have to use what works best when the conditions call for it. Unfortunitly that's about 2/3 of the house shots around town :(

Good Luck and Good Bowling

Mike
