Can you explain how Motiv-Techline gets their cover stock finishes on each of your 09 releases?

Abralon, wet/dry which grits, application of Power Gel Polish over surface and so forth so a user can replicate as close as he/she can with a spinner.

SX1: 2000 Abralon / Power Gel® Polish
TX1: 1000 Abralon / Power Gel® Polish
GT1: 1000 Abralon / Power Gel® Polish
TR2: 800 Wet Sand

The Power Gel Clean works very good to clean them up for surface change, the Power Gel Polish is a great polish to use, it shines up very well then takes abralon or wet sand very good to get the surface you want and it does not go away after a few shots as long as you clean them after use. The Power Gel Scuff does what it says (use on the TR2).

Scott will add more but the great thing about the Motiv bowling balls take surface ghange really well. So you can fine tune the reaction.

Thanks Mr. Woodman. I am aware of the OOB finishes via the website but I am looking for a more in depth explanation on how Tech-Line/Motiv does there finishing and gets to it's OOB surface. Most equipment manufacturers start with a dull grit and work to a more fine. I am wondering how Motiv does that.

Yes, we always start with a course grit and work our way up for finishes. For example, if you wanted to resurface an SX1 to 2000 polished, I would recommend going 500 to 1000 to 2000, then apply polish. Of course, if the surface scratches are not significant, it may not be necessary to go all the way down to 500 as a starting point.

If you want to take our new TR2 (800 sanded box finish) and put a 4000 sanded finish on it for medium oil, my recommendation would be to start at 1000, then go to 2000, and then to 4000.

As Brian Woodman mentioned, the MOTIV equipment takes surface adjustments extremely well. Don't be afraid to experiment with ball finish to tune the equipment in for a specific condition.

We have used abralon pads in the past, but we now use another brand because we found we can produce a better quality finish that is more consistent. For right now, we are considering that "proprietary information".

In general, a 1000 grit sand paper should produce the same finish, from brand to brand.

MOTIV balls down to 120 and up again to 4000 to get different looks
and reads.These covers are easily adjusted and take polish very well.In
all I have sanded 12 balls about 20 times each.
