My vote is for a white ball with black neomark logos. Nice simple and elegant. Would look sweet and definitely stand out

How about a ball with a bit of "sparkle". Like a gold colored ball with gold color "flecks" in the cover with a red logo on it??

Why is having a poly ball so necessary? I don't think that most bowlers realize that making poly balls domestically is a money losing proposition. I was just having a conversation with a pro shop operator and distributor in our area yesterday, and the topic of polyester balls came up. He laid out in no uncertain terms what poly balls represent to most companies, and basically it went like this: Storm/Roto have moved their poly production to China, but with very spotty quality success; their Team White (Belmo) ball will not be released, and there were very few Mainframe balls released because of quality concerns. His comment was something like, some made it to the staff players, and the balls busted up so quickly, they scrambled to keep as many off the market as possible. Both balls have been discontinued. Columbia white dots, Ebonite Maxims: these balls are continued because they are a 'stepping stone' for most bowlers into another line; Ebonite keeps these lines alive more or less to keep their 2nd and 3rd shift production workers busy, lest they have to lay off a large amount of union employees. By the time it's all said and done, they lose somewhere between $1 and $5 per ball. This was a tough number for me to swallow, but if you look around, Ebonite is the only producer making polys domestically. This leads us to the big B, which moved their production facility to Reynoso, Mexico. They make about a $3 profit per poly ball, give or take, simply because they 'enjoy' such lower labor costs. Lest we forget, this move to Mexico was the genesis for the formation of the Motiv brand. Cuss them all you like, but if Brunswick doesn't take their ball and go south of the border, and if Scott and Dave Wilbur don't take their life savings and go with their gut, believing that taking production to another country isn't the answer, we wouldn't have that big, pretty "M" to rally around. And that reason, in addition to the quality of the equipment, and the performance thereof, is the reason we should continue to be Motiv consumers. Plastic balls are the lepers of the bowling business- leave Motiv to take care of performance stuff that looks great while busting up sticks! There was no option to vote for "none needed." That would be my vote. Mick

@ Mick for all for not I agree 100% with you. It isn't the smartest "Business" move one could make; However. I posted a thread on here that eliminates the above mentioned theory of the plastic ball. My question inheretant was... what if; Motiv came out with a spare ball worthy of the money needed to not only make it a sucessful spare ball but even more so for the Physics that needed to be involved. If these two elements were met the one would be nuts to NOT spend $100.00 fr the ultimate spare ball because as you your pro shop guy and the Distributor knows very well as there is no absolutely no thought process that goes into making a spare poly rubber or plastic ball, but ask yourself what if it did? What would something be worth that has never been made before? The absolute in spare bowling. My thread is on another page and I would like all the input in order for more of the naqtion to see where I'm coming from on the physics side of it.

I like the idea of a spare ball. But you have to stay true to your motiv logo. Green. Sorry I would like it to be another color but green is there main stay and a clear ball with a big geen motiv logo in the center would be sweet.

@plamormick: It may be a money loser, but it could also gain new customers. Every bowler needs a spare ball. It's only 1 ball in an arsenal of 2-10. If you have Motiv making the only quality spare ball out there, that may draw customers to other product lines in the long run. What about playing up a customization aspect along with the Neomark graphics. I'm not sure of the full capabilities, but a spare ball, with it's lack of performance characteristics by nature, is where a lot of people try to display their personality a little bit. Just a thought.
