The Motiv Ripcord features the Oblivion core which was previously in the Paranoia line. I never had a chance to throw any of the Paranoia’s, so I was excited to get a chance to throw this one. It’s wrapped with the Infusion Reactive cover and comes box at 5000 LSP. I drilled mine with the pin above the bridge which is also how I have my Venom Shock Pearl that I used as a comparison.
I warmed up with the VSP on a fresh pair of lanes with a THS on them. When I switched to the Ripcord, I noticed how quickly this ball responded to the friction. I was about 4 and 1 left off my VSP line to find the pocket with the Ripcord. The Ripcord helped give me that little extra recovery I needed on more oil. As the lanes broke down, I tried moving in more and hit the friction earlier and this ball just kept coming back. The Ripcord allowed me to open my angles more, while the VSP allowed me to stay more forward and in the track. The Ripcord and VSP would be a great combo for league, and an excellent option when you need something to really turn the corner.

The MOTIV Ripcord was created to produce angularity and continuation through the pins. Ever notice when the heads dry up and you need to move in to open up your angles? I really like this cover/core combo because I can move in and do just that. The Ripcord is clean through the front part of the lane and rips off the friction on the back part of the lane. I struggle sometimes because my ball speed blows the ball past the break point and this core was created to create the down lane motion I need to help me overcome this struggle. Moving in and allowing the ball to see the front part of the lane and respond to friction gives me a shape I haven't seen before.
I highly recommend!!
Motiv's newest release, the RipCord, brings back one of my favorite cores, the Oblivion, from the popular Paranoia line. This time the core is wrapped with a new Infuse Reactive Coverstock that really allows this ball to be clean through the front part of the lane. Where you will see the difference is in the response to friction. The RipCord is absolutely faster off the spot than the Paranoia line was. I have mine drilled 55-4.75-30. On my heavier volume house shot that I bowl on, I am able to play around the track and push it out to the dry and watch it bounce off the friction. It really is a fun piece to throw.
Let’s start off by saying the Oblivion core is one my favorite cores Motiv has ever used in a ball. Wrap that core with the Infusion reactive cover and what do you get, a ball that absolutely RIPS off the backend. To this point, I’ve put 6 games on mine. It gets solid length down lane and comes off the dry with some serious pop to drop all 10 in the pit. From what I’ve seen from it so far, it’s going to be my go to on my wood lane houses and other patterns with more friction. This ball will fit perfect on the ball chart as something like this has been missing. Yet another great release from Motiv. Do yourself a favor and go get yourself a RIPCORD. Motiv continues to raise the bar in bowling equipment with every release.
The new Ripcord brings back the Oblivion core found in the original Paranoia line. The new Infusion Reactive coverstock gives the backend motion you expect from an angular pearl ball. This is a ball that the Motiv line has been missing for a while. The Lethal Paranoia gave an angular motion but was much longer and smoother than the new Ripcord. The Ripcord is clean, yet reads the midlane well and gives that strong angular motion. Players who bowl House patterns that are lower in volume or just have a lot of hook, will enjoy this ball quite a bit. This ball is a great step up from the Venom Shock Pearl and a nice step down from the Villain Scorn.
