So far, so GREAT with the new Sky Raptor. For a layout I chose 40 x 5.5" x 40 and left the coverstock at the out of box finish.
I have been able to use this ball on the fresh oil in my house league and have been able to stay with it as the pattern has broken down and created early hook transition. The Sky Raptor is strong & predictable and responds well to adjustments with ball speed & hand position when changing shapes.
While testing against the Iron Forge and Pride Empire, the Sky Raptor hooks at a similar spot downlane as the Iron Forge with a stronger shape. The Pride Empire is cleaner and has more length than the Sky Raptor with a more angular breakpoint, but this shape can be somewhat over-under for me on oil patterns that are not very blended.
I plan to do more comparisons between the Sky Raptor and other aggressive shinier Motiv balls. The Sky Raptor reminds me of the characteristics of the original Primal Rage, which is my all time favorite.
The combination of traction in oil, versatility, and predictable strong motion should make this a regular fixture in my arsenal for quite some time!
The Sky Raptor is exactly what one should picture for a stronger pearl, and it is pretty unique to the Motiv arsenal. For a shinier pearl, this one starts pretty early and is not afraid of a little volume. Given that it starts early, the Sky Raptor is pretty continuous. To compare to other pieces, for me, this one starts rolling in a similar spot as an Iron Forge, and it creates a similar down lane motion as a Pride Empire. I will find myself using this one a lot!
This ball is just WOW! The new Sky Raptor is what we have been looking for! We waited a while for a new Raptor, but it was well worth the wait! This ball gets through the front part of the lane really well, is really strong in the mid lane, and has an amazing amount of backend! This ball is a more juiced up version of the Iron Forge! This ball will be a great piece in any bowler's bag!
