From what I have read & the PBA rules are:
Because this tournament wont be shown on TV until next year.
Any manufactured ball that would be avail to the public by the time
of the telecast would be allowed to be used.
IE: If a ball is to be released Dec-Jan. And the telecast will be
shown on TV in Feb. That the ball is allowed to be used..

I am confused on the rule...I thought the rule was made because there were bowlers in the event without access to unreleased balls making it unfair in competition becuase not everyone is a staffer. So they made the rule that balls had to be released to public for the non-staffers.

I think it's because the Manufactures asked..
They want to see their latest & greatest balls to be shown on the telecast when on TV.
Not to see staffers using 3-4 month old equipment..
The whole telecast thing to me is why the PBA are struggling to hold a TV audience..
I think around 70% of league bowlers also like to watch the pro's bowl.
And most of them would either go on the web-site to find out the results or have access to online media.
So by the time in 3-4 months its on TV they know who won & how they won.
So at least half of those 70% probley wont watch it on TV..
