This is the 4th Motiv ball I have purchased and was shocked at the performance. This is the lowest rating I have given a Motiv product. I had this drilled pin up and similar to my other balls expecting a strong smooth roll. Based on the details I expected this to be stronger than my Venom Shock but a touch weaker than my Pride. I found that the ball wasn't reading the lane early at all and was reacting more like a pearl (all backend). To its credit, it hits the pins hard. I just wasn't getting the performance from the ball that I expected based on the cover. Drilled differently I know I could find a spot for it in my 6 ball arsenal. It isn't a bad ball, just didn't react like I had expected.
Have been really loving this ball! Have it drilled the same as my Trident Quest and it does not disappoint. Great ball for me to start out League night. Would totally recommend getting one if you do not already have one.
Drilled mine 70x5x30, threw for first time and had to get used to how strong the ball is first game then 236 and 244 to finish the night. Strong as advertised and found it to be pretty angular. Really good ball fora speed dominant player like me.
I was initially drawn to the Motiv line due to their unique looks compared to other brands. The Trident Odyssey caught my eye every time I entered my local pro shop and when a great deal on a NIB I knew it was time to try it out. I bowl on average 20 games a week between two centers, with vastly different oil patterns. I had been struggling on one that had a heavier oil pattern and this ball as allowed me to get more comfortable throwing on different parts of the lane. I am a 165ish average bowler but have seen my highest games with this ball. 2nd day throwing it, I shot a personal high of 245. I have consistently thrown 200's+ with it. During yesterday's practice session I bowled a total of 10 games with a 180 average. After some dialing in, my last five games averaged 201 for a 1001 5 game set, which I was ecstatic to see to say the least! Love this ball!
Like my header says I can’t wait to start the season next week with my new Odyssey. I bought the Blue Coral Venom and the Odyssey over the summer and drilled them differently for scratch bowling challenge tournaments and neither disappointed but the Odyssey is in a class above!! It is so smooth and pure rolling down the lane and stores so my pop for the back end. I have a 3rd and 5th place finish in two of the last 4 events I registered for, and really look forward to the regular bowling season and the 700 club tournaments I bowl in all year. Best equipment in the game and won’t throw anything else!!!
