Even greater control emerges from the Shadows.  The Shadow Tank isn’t just another ball—it’s a weapon. Born from years of relentless development of Microcell Polymer technology, this Tank is the smoothest, most controllable MCP ball we’ve ever built.  This slow oil-absorption ball is over 78 hardness to give you urethane-level control without compromise.  If you’re tired of fighting over/under reactions, if you want a ball that you can trust when the lanes get ugly, this is it. The Shadow Tank gives you the ability to stay in control longer and play your game deeper into blocks.

We engineered the new Frixion M7 Pearl MCP cover to read earlier and slower than the previous M6 found on the Tank Rampage Pearl, which means less jump and more predictability. This is the most urethane-like MCP ball yet.  And paired with Duramax Additive technology, the Shadow Tank will hold its surface longer than anything prior.  When the lanes get tricky, this ball stays in play.

Pair that with the Flux core (2.57 RG / .015 differential) and you have a unique combo: a weaker core matched to a stronger shell.  This allows the cover to do the heavy lifting.  You get a smoother, more controllable motion that doesn’t surprise you down-lane. It’s deliberate. It’s weaponized.  Control wins tournaments.  And the Shadow Tank is a must-have weapon in every tournament bag.

WHEN TO USE:

Speed Dominant: Most speed dominant bowlers are able to use stronger balls earlier than their competitors, but in cases where there is just too much wet/dry on the lane or the oil pattern is quite short, the Shadow Tank will come in handy. Additionally, the Duramax additive means that if a speed dominant bowler needs to add surface to their Shadow Tank, it will stay duller longer than other balls in their bag.  This can come in handy for speed dominant bowlers using MCP coverstocks on challenging patterns.

Balanced: For balanced bowlers, the Tank series is a tool for exceedingly difficult patterns and fresh oil.  Short to moderate length patterns where control is of the utmost importance are ideal for balanced bowlers looking to use the Shadow Tank.  When shallow angles and control are what the pattern demands, the Shadow Tank is a critical tool in the balanced bowler’s toolbox.

Rev Dominant: Most likely, rev dominant players are the ones who will benefit the most from the Shadow Tank.  The high rev rate to speed ratio makes a low diff ball that doesn’t absorb much oil a great option where balanced and speed dominant bowlers may not see enough ball motion.  When there is just too much down lane motion, rev dominant players will usually be able to go to the Shadow Tank for the command of the pattern that they need.

    Shadow Tank

Having this ball with the layout 30 x 5 x 35, so far it excels on many different oil patterns!

    Must-have for dry lanes

This ball is a must-have for bowling on dry lanes. The centers near me do a pretty lackluster job of keeping up with oiling regularly, so any time I go out to practice I’m usually battling a lane that has already seen a hundred house balls piped down the middle. Additionally, winters in the Midwest call for lots and lots of heat, which flattens the lane out even more. In times like this (being a slightly more rev-dominant player), I have a hard time getting even my weakest reactive ball to hit the pocket cleanly no matter where I stand.

This is where the Shadow Tank has been a life-saver for me. I know that, even on these absurdly dry lanes, I have a tool in my toolbag that I can use. Thank you Motiv!

    Shadow Tank

Next to the Venom Shock this hands down one of the best balls I've thrown. Very easy to control on drier lanes and no over reaction. Motiv is my choice for all my bowling balls

    Look into the Shadow

    Overall Summary
Shadow Tank starts up very early and is very smooth downlane, which I consider ideal when needing help controlling my ball motion or blending out the lanes on broken patterns.
I liked how smooth and even Shadow Tank was on broken down patterns, Shadow Tank grabbed the lane swiftly and blended out the motion at the end of the pattern
I saw a smooth motion that didn’t over-hook when it saw the dry, and the lower-flaring core let me hold and play a more direct line to the pocket.
I also was rather impressed with how long the cover stayed intact, in fact mine is yet to lane shine which I find fitting because a Shadow doesn’t shine
However if your looking to shine from the bottom of your bag I encourage you to look into the Shadow.
Your game will thank you for it.

Exactly What I Hoped It Would Be!

Amateur bowler here. I don't practice and I bowl league once a week on a house shot. I don't crank, I'm a down and in bowler. My reactive ball was out of control. I couldn't throw more than 2 shots in a row and hit the same spot. I was resigned to using my urethane ball most of the time.

I saw the promos for the Shadow Tank and suspected it was exactly what I needed to deal with how the lanes change every week and from pair to pair.

Mine actually came in a day before it was released to the public and I rushed to my pro shop, got it drilled, and fired off 20 shots just to get a feel for it.

Week one I warned my team I would probably suck and was going to bowl all 3 games with the new ball no matter what. I bowled about 20 under average. Week 2 I was expecting to do the same, but by halfway through the 3rd game my team needed me, so I finished with my urethane and punched out.

Week three, YAY, it's broken in! It has now absorbed enough oil to be consistent as advertised. Other than the 2 Brooklyns I threw every shot was in the pocket. I bought this ball looking for a more steady shot than my reactive, but more hit than my urethane. I bowled 20 pins over average.

Week 4 made me a believer. Not only am I able to keep the ball on the line I want. I have not missed a single spare with this ball since it got seasoned! Again, I bowled 20 pins over average.

Did I mention that this thing hits like a rock? My strike ratio is over 50%, only a couple of splits (in the 10th of course), and a manageable number of corner pins. I'm thrilled with the results and feel like this ball performs as advertised.
