The Motiv Forge is the strongest symmetrical ball Motiv has ever made. It features the new Detonator core and the Coercion HFS cover which is a modified version of what is used on the Jackal line. I did not have a chance to throw the Revolt line, but was really excited to punch the Forge out. I drilled mine with the pin above the bridge and left the cover at box finish, 3000 Grit LSS. I brought my Villain Scorn and T10 out to compare with the Forge.
Review:
I generally play more down and in around the track. I tested the Forge on a fresh house shot. Right off the press I threw the first 6 before leaving a 4 pin. My first impression was no matter how far I got it out, the Forge always found its way to the pocket. I kept moving left to see how well the Forge would do in oil. The Forge creates so much room for error for me. When compared to my Villain Scorn, the Scorn definitely is longer and quicker off the spot. I see a similar motion from my T10, but the Forge covers more boards overall.
I feel this would be a great ball for those looking for a symmetrical option when playing in the oil. The balls that make the cut to be in my bag are those I feel I can use on multiple conditions. The Forge is one of those balls. When the Abyss is too much ball, the Forge will fit nicely and keep you in the same general area. This would make a great ball for league to start and maybe ball down to a Venom Shock or T10 later in the night.

For a bigger ball I was nervous this ball would be too much ball overall. I have a med ball speed with a Higher rev rate so usually Med-High solids end up being early but still being a ton down lane for me so I end up polishing them to tame them down a little. With the Forge I left at box surface though. The ball was amazing it read the front part of the lane but still stayed continuous down lane. I had some miss right and left where the ball didn’t over react which I was happy to see. It ended up blending the house pattern very well.
Definitely see it being my Bench mark ball to start most days with. After about 5 games and a little carry down I was able to move a couple boards right with my feet and stay firm with my release and keep the ball in play for a couple more games. Overall was really Excited for this piece and it definitely exceeded my expectations!

The Detonator core provides a low RG and high differential to create easy revs and massive amounts of flare. The Reverb outer core material surrounds the Detonator core to provide explosive hitting power. The Forge is built for a smooth motion on medium-heavy oil conditions. It will be a great fit in your bag on medium to heavy oil. By merging the a high differential with a low RG, the Forge creates maximum track flare providing traction in the heavy oil, a smooth response to friction, and outstanding continuation . The Forge will become that ball you can count on when you need the ball blend the pattern, store it’s energy, and continue through the pin deck.
My Forge is laid out pin up (above my ring finger), the cg very slightly shifted to the right (no extra hole). This ball has already found a place in my bag and drives through the pins with ease from any angle. If you are looking for that go to ball that will smooth out the pattern, not hook at your toes, provide control, has continuation and awesome hitting power. Look no further, you've found it.

This ball was a bit of a surprise to me. The high-end symmetric ball spot and has been filled by the Forza SS for a long time and that ball is definitely my favorite that Motiv has ever produced. However, this ball contests with it a bit. It reads at the same part of the lane but is a little more angular, which allows me to play angles that I'm not able to with the SS. I've been able to throw it on a variety of conditions, and I've been impressed with it, now having it my go-to ball on fresh.
The Forge is a great ball to have in the bag, even if you might not think you need it!

The Forge is the strongest symmetrical ball ever created by Motiv. This ball really wants to dig into the oil quickly producing a smooth motion which give you lots of control and outstanding continuation on the back part of the lane. The Forge features a new low RG weight block called "Detonator" which helps this ball start up but a high differential allows for more flare. Wrap this ball with the Coercion High Friction Solid cover and you get a perfect step down from the Trident Abyss. Love this ball on the tricky flat sport patterns and those big over/under house shots keep you out of trouble. Pick up your's today!
