The Hydra™ is one of the cleanest bowling balls ever produced by Motiv. The combination of the incredibly clean and angular Hexion cover system combined with the high RG/low differential Halogen core results in easy length with impressive backend motion.  Typically, a 5500 Grit LSP finish is used for light oil balls, but a 5000 Grit LSP finish was utilized on the Hydra because the cover glides through the front of the lane so easily.  This finish enables the ball to read the lane better and improves predictability at the backend.

Bowlers competing in high friction environments and rev dominant players will gravitate to the Hydra as a perfect angular ball to add to their arsenal.  Tournament bowlers looking for a dry lane performance bowling ball need Hydra in their bag. Unlike entry level pearls, this beast can strike from the deep and provides more angles of attack.

    I drilled this ball with a 5 inch pin and this ball is unbelievable. You can adjust the cover stock on this ball to literally any condition you would ever face. I use this ball on all patterns short to long.

    I did not bowl for 5 years and decided to get back into , ordered this Hydra ball to use on wood lanes with little oil and right out of the box shot over 600 series .

    The Hydra Factor

    I am a league bowler and my average is 195. The Motiv Hydra is a great addition to my bag. I'm a mid-to high rev rate player and the Hydra is a great option as the fresh oil breaks down on the lanes, which is very quick in my league as 95% of our players are right handed, like me.

    I play straight up the lanes anywhere from the 5 board to the 15 board depending on the lane conditions. The Hydra clears the front lanes pretty easy in the light oil conditions and reads the friction on the back and dives to the pocket with plenty of power. It even carries light hits to the pocket creating mixer strikes.

    Overall I like this ball, and would recommend to anyone needing a light oil to dry lane piece of equipment that hits hard.
