Turmoil MFS technology has been a benchmark for MOTIV, providing moderate mid-lane traction with plenty of down lane motion. Featured in the longest running MOTIV ball of all time, the Venom Shock, this cover perfectly balances control and aggression. This is the pinnacle of benchmark ball motion.

The Primal Shock takes the ultimate benchmark ball motion found in the Venom Shock and amps up performance by pairing it with the strong Impulse V2 core found in the Primal Rage. This core creates incredibly strong down-lane motion and marks a significant upgrade in overall core strength from the Gear core found in the Venom Shock. When paired with the Turmoil MFS cover, the result is a medium-heavy and moderately angular monster that is a must have in every bag.

WHEN TO USE:

  • Speed Dominant Bowlers - Many speed dominant bowlers are unable to use balls with differentials as low as the Venom Shock. A more dynamic core allows these bowlers to use the same cover stock, but with a motion that suits them. The Primal Shock will be a moderately angular complement to a speed dominant bowler’s benchmark ball. This will be an outstanding first transition ball for bowlers with excessive speed or lower rev rates.
  • Balanced Bowlers - The Venom Shock is a balanced bowler’s dream. It’s been the benchmark ball for those bowlers for years now and will continue to be. Over the years, many balanced bowlers have said that they’d like a more angular Venom Shock and one that could create more down lane motion. The Primal Shock is that ball.
  • Rev Dominant Bowlers - The highest rev rate and lowest speed bowlers will use the Primal Shock on fresh oil and high volume patterns when they need to create some angle. Before the rev dominant players can get all the way into the angular pearls, a Primal Shock will allow for easy mid-lane read and moderate angle to start opening up their angles on transitioning lanes.

    This ball is hands down one of the best balls I have thrown in over 4 years. Honor score the day it released. Hits the rack and drives through the pins with ease. Provides a smooth backend motion with length as well.

    Some balls work really well; some just look badass. This one is both. To 11.

    I know this is sacrilege among Motiv fans, but I have never thrown a Venom Shock. Historically, balls with low RG cores, solid covers, or weaker differentials didn't really match up too well with me. I was always afraid that a Venom Shock would dig in too early and force me left, but then not have enough torque to get back up to the pocket. So, when the Primal was announced, and it literally addressed every single reservation I had about the Venom Shock (higher RG core for length, more differential for better recovery from angle), I couldn't resist.

    First things first: WOW! As a two-hander, I typically end up using weaker equipment that doesn't create too much angle, so I'm not used to seeing much downlane motion. When I threw the first few shots with my Primal, I couldn't believe how effortlessly I was able to glide it over the 3rd-4th arrows and how violently it would slam back from as far out as the 4-5 boards. I almost never play this skid/snap style, but I think it's fair to say I have a reliable ball to learn it on. I have to say, it's nice to shoot 9 pins instead of 10s for a change. :)

    For my drilling, I went 4x4x5 2LS (which is more or less a strong pin-up layout). I wanted to make sure the ball got started stabilizing in the oil, so the 4" pin helps it to get moving a bit more up front. I also wanted it to be able to recover from deep, so the 5" pin-to-cog raised the differential even more. Suffice to say, I got what I asked for. By the end of my first league session with it, I was further left than I've ever been, and it was still coming back with ease.

    If you want a ball to throw at the friction and send headpins flying all over the place, this is your ball. But, if you like smooth, controlled shapes, I would 100% recommend either adding surface or going with a weaker, smoother layout (longer pin-to-pap, pin down). This ball packs a serious punch and is going to go bonkers on you if you go strong on the layout.

    New Benchmark Ball

    I think I've found my perfect new benchmark ball. Loved it out of the box. Smooth roll and great longevity as the night went on. Made the transition to the Blue Coral easier when I had to ball down.

    The long awaited, highly anticipated, and soon to be absolutely legendary Primal Shock. The perfect combination of the Venom Shock and Primal Rage. Two of Motiv's most successful bowling balls, and the combination so far is one of the most versatile pieces I have seen from Motiv. I usually don't drill up multiple of the same ball, but for this one, I feel like having a pair drilled slightly different would give me weapons I haven't had in the bag in a long time.

    I have always been a fan of the primal core and wrapping it up in the OG Venom Shock cover gives you something so controllable, so versatile, and just downright nasty on the lanes.

    You don't want to miss this one. It is going to go down as one of the best Motiv has ever made.

    I can’t say enough Motiv hit one out of the park I have bought every ball they ever can put with in four years love the customer service the best around now this Primal Shock I bought 3 I did pin up pin down this ball is amazing it’s so smooth nice pop on the back I have thrown it on the 48 ft Great Wall China also Dragon and Broadway wow this ball puts in work I recommend this ball to everyone it’s very special thank you Motiv for all the awesome equipment keep them coming can’t wait for the next one
