The most sought after crossover in MOTIV® history is here with the introduction of the Primal™ Shock! Combining two of MOTIV®’s greatest releases, the Primal Rage and Venom Shock, the Primal Shock bowling ball takes the best of both balls to create something truly special. Turmoil MFS cover technology from the Venom Shock and the Impulse V2 core from the Primal Rage combine to provide strong mid-lane traction with plenty of angle down lane. Motiv’s Primal Shock dominates medium to heavy oil conditions, offering a vast array of options to attack the lanes. This is a can’t miss combination that bowlers have been asking for since 2013!

Turmoil MFS technology has been a benchmark for MOTIV, providing moderate mid-lane traction with plenty of down lane motion. Featured in the longest running MOTIV ball of all time, the Venom Shock, this cover perfectly balances control and aggression. This is the pinnacle of benchmark ball motion.

The Primal Shock takes the ultimate benchmark ball motion found in the Venom Shock and amps up performance by pairing it with the strong Impulse V2 core found in the Primal Rage. This core creates incredibly strong down-lane motion and marks a significant upgrade in overall core strength from the Gear core found in the Venom Shock. When paired with the Turmoil MFS cover, the result is a medium-heavy and moderately angular monster that is a must have in every bag.

WHEN TO USE:

  • Speed Dominant Bowlers - Many speed dominant bowlers are unable to use balls with differentials as low as the Venom Shock. A more dynamic core allows these bowlers to use the same cover stock, but with a motion that suits them. The Primal Shock will be a moderately angular complement to a speed dominant bowler’s benchmark ball. This will be an outstanding first transition ball for bowlers with excessive speed or lower rev rates.
  • Balanced Bowlers - The Venom Shock is a balanced bowler’s dream. It’s been the benchmark ball for those bowlers for years now and will continue to be. Over the years, many balanced bowlers have said that they’d like a more angular Venom Shock and one that could create more down lane motion. The Primal Shock is that ball.
  • Rev Dominant Bowlers - The highest rev rate and lowest speed bowlers will use the Primal Shock on fresh oil and high volume patterns when they need to create some angle. Before the rev dominant players can get all the way into the angular pearls, a Primal Shock will allow for easy mid-lane read and moderate angle to start opening up their angles on transitioning lanes.

Whether you’re a bowler who’s more interested in speed, rev, or a balance between the two, Motiv Bowling is here to take care of you the next time you head to the lanes. Whether you just want to have a good time or want to dominate the entire bowling alley, Motiv Bowling is here to help!

My opinion says: The Primal Shock is an opening ball for me

As I wrote in my heading, I’ve had the Primal since it was first released and it has been very reliable in different oil patterns. The only concern I have is the cover which has many gouges but I’m still able to control the break to the pocket.
I have the 3 Ball Bag for Motiv (Great Products)

    GOATish

The Primal Shock is easily the best ball in my arsenal. She reads early and produces a beautiful shape on your typical house shot. She's versatile and can play anywhere on the lane really. Don't be surprised if she's the only ball you need for a standard 3-game set.
I found after testing multiple surfaces, that 2000 is money for me. I knew early on I would have to have at least a couple of these and now do. Together they've proven to be an excellent 1-2 punch.
This is one ball I think anyone can buy without a 2nd thought or regret.....It's just that good.
It's like the Venom Shock on steroids, and I'll be surprised if any ball will ever be able to bump this one out of the bag.

    Primal Shock

This was my first Motiv piece. It will not be my last. The Primal Shock is both clean and strong. And once it starts making its move, it just doesn't stop. I touched it with a 2000 pad today and can't wait to see what that little extra bite does. This ball checks all my marks.

    A Venom Shock for strokers!

The Primal is earlier than I thought it would be and perfect for a stroker like me, lower revs and a good amount of speed. The Venom Shock was too long and wild on the backend for me, but the Primal is benchmark for me.

    I'm in Shock!

    Core: Impulse V2
    Type: Symmetrical
    Coverstock: Turmoil MFS Solid Reactive
    Box Finish: 4000 Grit LSS
    Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CWWISN2zDA
    Layout: 65 x 4½ x 30

    Strengths
Primal Shock will provide you with more shape down lane to that of original Venom Shock and Pride.
Primal Shock has an early ball motion up front than Ripcord Launch, Pride Empire and Sky Raptor.
The solid coverstock finished at 4000 grit LSS allowed the Primal Shock to start hooking sooner than the Venom Shock as well as polished balls in the Motiv line, such as the Ripcord Launch, Pride Empire, and Sky Raptor.
    Weaknesses
I was not successful using Primal Shock on heavier patterns at 4000 as the reaction was too clean for my liking, there was not enough traction in the cover. If you choose to use Primal Shock on heavier patterns I was suggest straighten angles or taking the cover down, I simply chose to a bigger cover.
    Overall Summary
The moment I threw Primal Shock for the 1st time I went into shock immediately loving what I saw, the Turmoil MFS Solid coverstock from the Venom Shock and the Impulse V2 core from the Primal Rage make it versatile and user friendly a variety of styles. At times I would want more overall hook from Venom Shock as well as more control, Primal Shock does as advertised.
Give some thought into going into Shock.
Your game will thank you for it.
