The brand new MOTIV® Top Thrill™ takes high friction performance to a new level!  This latest advancement for dry lanes offers a boosted core and brand new coverstock, a significant step up from the original Thrill™ models in both core and coverstock technology.   The Top Thrill™ provides bowlers with more options for attacking drier lanes and higher friction lane surfaces.  

Developed as a dry lane complement to the Infusion™ reactive cover, the Turmoil™ XP  shell provides as much down lane shape with less traction in the oil to allow for use on dry lanes.  When Infusion™ reactive balls are too strong, the Top Thrill™ will be a great option for even the most competitive bowlers.  

The Flux™ core in the original Thrill™ is replaced in the Top Thrill™ with a modified Halogen™ core previously found in higher performance Motiv® bowling balls.  The new Halogen™ V2 has a slightly higher RG than the original with a lower differential.  The Halogen™ V2 is uniquely suited for dry lanes, but with a strong enough core to allow for more angles of play and significantly more versatility in drilling options. 

When To Use:

Speed Dominant Bowlers:  When speed dominant bowlers encounter conditions so scorched that they need a dry lane ball, it’s important to have one that is developed for performance.  The Top Thrill is developed to provide shape on dry lanes, not just deliver at the cheapest price or just be the prettiest ball on the wall.

Balanced Bowlers: For balanced bowlers, a dry lane ball is an important part of a tournament arsenal. Low volume oil patterns and high friction surfaces necessitate balls with higher rg’s and lower differentials.  The Top Thrill is designed to fit in a competitive bowler’s progression just below the Venom and Supra line.

Rev Dominant Bowlers: For bowlers with exceptionally low speed or high rev rates, the Top Thrill allows manageable angles on normal house patterns and sport shots.  A rev dominant bowler so often is forced to play much deeper with steep angles even on house shots due to their ball speed to rev rate ratio.  The Top Thrill solves that problem.

    THRILL

    This is my first attempt with the Thrill line as I don't see a lot of short/light volume patterns in the Midwest. I figured this would be a good house ball for games 2/3 in my center so I drilled one up. I have always been a fan of the light bulb style core design which also made me want to give this a try. I was pleasantly surprised by how much this hooked not only the fresh but on the broken down pattern that I bowl on. On fresh I was playing very close to the friction as it has to have a little help to turn the corner for me. I played roughly 13-4 on fresh and game 3 of league I was playing roughly 19-5. When playing in the middle of the lane if it didn't get to the friction you were looking at a bucket type leave almost automatically. I will be throwing this a lot more to try and get used to its unique reaction. Another win from the MOTIV brand here as it is a great bang for your buck type of ball.

    My new favorite ball

    Being a rev dominant bowler I've needed this ball! This ball brings me back so far right where I can't normally play on the house shot. Still turns into the pocket and hits hard. Don't let the entry level price point fool you like it did me. It's a TOP shelf ball still. At the alley right now and I'm up lol TOP THRILL FOR THE WIN BABY!!!

    The new MOTIV Top Thrill is our newest dry lane/ high friction ball. This ball for dry lanes offers a bigger core and new cover, a step up from the original Thrill in both core and coverstock technology.  
    Developed as a dry lane complement to the Infusion cover, the Turmoil cover provides as much down lane shape with less traction in the oil to allow for use on dry lanes.  When the Infusion balls are too much, the Top Thrill will be a better option.
    The Top Thrill has the Halogen V2 which is best for dry lanes, but with a strong enough core to allow for more angles of play and have more versatility.

    Strengths
    Smooth ball motion upon encountering friction.

    Halogen V2 has enough muscle for steeper lane play angels.

    Weaknesses
    Although Top Thrill does have a Turmoil coverstock it is not Turmoil MFS that is on Venom Shock, Turmoil XP Pearl Reactive is not meant to combat heavier patterns.

    Overall Summary

    Top Thrill is a weapon designed for novice bowlers and tournament bowlers wanting to play small ball on drier conditions or broken transition patterns, in most cases I end up using Top Thrill in later games or if I encounter friction early. In terms of ball motion Top Thrill is different from Thrill as it doesn’t hockey stick down lane, instead the shape is round and even.

    Considering what Top Thrill is designed for I don’t typically use it on the fresh, however when I do I am right of target and Top Thrill floats until it encounters friction. The reaction is controlled and predictable and I consider that a plus for my rev rate and how I play the lanes.

    Top Thrill is far from overkill when you encounter high friction patterns. I promise it is worth your time.

    Top Thrill

    The Top Thrill is an amazing entry level ball. For the price point, I feel you’re getting more than your money’s worth. My intention with this ball was to replace the Hydra, which I loved so much, and it did just that. I needed something to use late in long block tournaments in higher friction houses and it fit the slot perfectly.
