“This thing is so fun to throw!  I feel like it lets me do whatever I want to do on fresh”, stated EJ Tackett about the new Trident™ Horizon.   Utilizing a hybrid edition of Coercion™ MXC cover technology, the Trident™ Horizon exudes strength, power, and incredible versatility.

A solid version of Coercion™ MXC powers the impressive Forge™ Flare.  “It is so strong, that some high rev rate players are forced to use fiercely steep angles and sometimes throw it over the front of the lane to use it even on fresh”, said PBA® Tour Rep Brett Spangler.  “It just makes sense to merge this phenomenal shell with a higher RG core and less aggressive finish.”  And that is precisely the design focus behind the Trident Horizon.

Utilizing new Coercion™ MXC Hybrid Reactive cover technology, the Trident™ Horizon digs in the oil yet still manages to continue down lane to a degree that confounds many bowlers.  Tuned with a 4000 Grit LSS finish, it showcases more clearly the down lane motion potential of the Coercion™ MXC technology.

To maximize continuation, the Trident™ Horizon utilizes the versatile asymmetric Sidewinder™ core.  Featuring a higher RG and lower intermediate differential, it clears the front of the lane much easier than the more powerful solid balls for heavier oil volumes and retains energy to provide ferocious continuation.

Popping performance and colors? The Trident Horizon certainly grabs attention on the lanes with both its color scheme and outstanding performance on medium-heavy to medium conditions. The new Coercion MXC Hybrid Reactive coverstock, finished at 4000-grit LSS, wrapped around the asymmetric Sidewinder core (2.52 RG, .049 Differential, .013 Intermediate Differential), creates a versatile ball reaction that has shown me it can excel on straighter, fresher lines as well as deeper, burnt-track lines.

Based upon the strength of the cover, I laid my Horizon out to push a but further down the lane and retain more energy for a more pronounced backend motion since the house I typically bowl in has a medium volume shot. Even with this ‘weaker’ layout, this ball has plenty of teeth to bite through the oil and create the traction needed to throw it on the fresh. Getting through the heads is easy thanks to the Sidewinder core, the Coercion MXC coverstock digs to find midlane friction, and these two forces combined unleash a quick, powerful backend motion that creates forgiveness at the spot which, in turn, opens up the pocket to throw pins for exceptional carry potential. In any given night of practice or league I have started as far right as laydown-10/cross-8 and have continued through laydown-30/cross-22. This versatility has given me stability within my arsenal which has allowed me to stay above my competitors when the transition happens. By being able to both create friction and then get left and use the friction, the Horizon has allowed me to make consistent moves and stay more comfortable as the night progressed compared to others who have to switch their equipment as early as frame six of the block. While the coverstock is in the same family as the Jackal Legacy and the Forge Flare, this ball is significantly cleaner and quicker therefore you can have confidence having either of those balls along with the Horizon to create a strong one-two punch for those fresher oil conditions.

I truly believe the Trident Horizon is one of the best medium-heavy balls on the market today, both in reaction and in looks (to be honest, blue and pink has always scored for me). The versatility of the angles you can create with a single layout is impressive in-and-of itself, let alone what could be accomplished with surface changes as well, which makes this a special release that could have a home on the MOTIV ball chart for some time.

    Trident Horizon Review

    Review:

The Trident is the latest release in the MOTIV Bowling product line. This Hybrid monster will be the first ball out of your bag at any event and will dominate the lanes in that event. The new Trident Horizon brings together the Hybrid Coercion MXC cover stock, the solid version of this cover stock can be found on the Forge Flare, and we wrap it around the sidewinder core. This wow combination gives the bowlers an option that can dig through the oil but can still give you retainable energy down lane that can clear the fronts much easier than any other bowling ball in that category. IF you want something that is going to be the first ball out of your bag and can throw it on anything then get the Trident Horizon at your local pro shop today.

    Comments:

The Trident Horizon this the first ball in an awfully long time that it’s the first ball out of my bag at anything I bowl. First time throwing it, it gave me the wow reaction that I haven’t seen in some time. I feel I can throw this piece on any condition and have success and I have had some mild success in the events that I have bowled since this ball has been in my bag. All types of bowlers need to have this bowling ball in their bag because while it is a big piece, I feel that it can be thrown on anything and it won’t give the pocket away and people don’t have to get out of their comfort zone in order to throw it especially with the finish the Horizon comes out of the box with.

Likes: Versatile; Strong down lane motion; continuation through the pins.
    Dislikes: None

I recommend this bowling ball for all types of bowlers.

    Trident Horizon

    Layout 50x4.5x20

Well this ball has Motiv's sidewinder core in it and that's exactly what it does.
I am extremely stoked about this one. The all new Trident Horizon is a great piece to have in your arsenal when you need to open the lanes up.
This has been a great go to ball after the Forge Flare is too much ball or starts to read too early and need to go to something that will be clean but still strong enough to eat through the oil.
I think what has most impressed me so far is just how angular this ball is for an asymmetric. But with Motiv has done such an amazing job developing the new Coercion Hybrid reactive cover technology it makes sense that this ball has this much angularity. This ball will be with me everywhere I go regardless of any pattern. A must have.

    Perfect Compliment

I was pleasantly surprised with the new Trident Horizon. First things first, I did not get along with the Trident Nemesis; tried two of them and drilled each one multiple times they just never matched up. With that being said, apparently cover stock everything with the Sidewinder Core. The new MXC Hybrid is fantastic, good mid lane with a controlled motion through the pins. No tricks or cover changes needed this ball fits directly between the Flare and the Fire. When the Flare digs too early and the Fire is just a bit too clean and responsive the Horizon is the Ticket.

    Go WAY Beyond

Wow. I am partial to the Jackal line but this ball is amazing. This ball is so clean throughout every part of the lanes. I love the way that this ball comes off the spot and thru the pins. I can see myself being able to use this ball on just about any oil pattern there is. This combination of core and cover really go well together.
