The original Venom Shock's Turmoil coverstock remains a timeless choice for those medium-dry lanes, but there are times when you need to kick it up a notch on fresher or slicker surfaces.  Enter the Turmoil MXC Solid Reactive coverstock, harnessing technology from the Evoke and Forge Flare but on a more subdued cover base. When to use

Speed Dominant:  Bowlers with a great deal of speed relative to their rev rate will find the Venom ExJ useful likely in the place where most balanced bowlers use the Venom Shock.  The earlier and smoother coverstock will allow speed dominant bowlers to throw a Venom when the Venom Shock would be too clean or weak. 

Balanced: For balanced bowlers the Venom ExJ is a benchmark ball, offering a smooth and controllable motion on medium-dry to medium-heavy conditions.  The greatest distinction between the Venom Shock and the ExJ Venom is that the ExJ is earlier and smoother, making it easier to use as a benchmark but less suited for creating steep angles. 

Rev Dominant: Crankers will use the Venom ExJ on heavier oil fresh patterns.  The traction in the oil along with the fast spinning and stable Gear core makes the Venom ExJ great for rev dominant players to use this one more than any previous Venom.

    great benchmark ball

    This is a great benchmark ball. I’ve been throwing Motiv exclusively for the last two years, and switching to Motiv was one of the best decisions I’ve made for my game.

    I’m a big EJ Tackett fan, so when this ball came out, I had to have it. This was my first Venom ball, and I fell in love with it quickly. The colors are amazing, and the ball is everything I was looking for—and then some.

    On most house shots with medium to heavy oil, this ball absolutely does the job. It’s very easy to read as it goes down the lane, which allows me to make quick adjustments, whether that means moving my feet or switching balls. When it reaches the breakpoint, you know exactly what you’re going to get—smooth, predictable, and strong.

    I’ve never seen this ball roll out on me unless I made a bad shot. It drives through the pins like a truck, with very little deflection compared to many other brands I’ve thrown. As a lefty, I sometimes leave a few 8-pins because of how hard it drives through the pocket, but those are easy adjustments to make once you recognize it.

    Final Thoughts:
    If you’re looking for a reliable benchmark ball that reads the lane well, handles medium to heavier oil, and delivers strong, consistent pin carry, this Venom deserves a spot in your bag.

    Great bench mark ball

    This ball is perfect, gets a great mid lane read and then packs a punch to the pocket. You can play straighter or hook this ball. Keep up the great work!

    Great strong benchmark

    This is my first Motiv Ball. This is a great benchmark ball. It is first out of my bag and for a lot of weeks, it is the only ball out.

    Great, controllable motion downland and really drives through the pins. I am definitely thinking about buying a second one just to hold in the closet for when this one dies.

    Great all around ball.

    Amazing ball!!

    This ball is so smooth. It’s my first ball out the bag and can give me a great read on the lane. When it hits the pins you can just tell this ball is different.

    This ball is money!

    Out of the box 4x4x2 layout factory finish. This ball has a consistent roll and hits with tons of power. The ball has plenty of energy at the pins and I used it all three games, even with some high rev rate players playing right into my break point. I couldn't be happier. I'd highly recommend this ball to anyone thinking about it. May be a bit big for someone that is rev dominate.
