The new solid purple Venom Shock produces a violent reaction on light to medium oil conditions.  It attacks the lane with the proven Gear™ weight block and new cover technology – Turmoil™ MFS (Medium Friction Solid) Reactive, which is a modified version of the more aggressive shell featured on the Covert Revolt.  This core and cover combination provides a smooth yet angular backend motion that strikes with devastating continuation.

As far as shelf appeal, the Venom Shock does not disappoint.  The vibrant orange logo really pops off the purple shell.  And, for those that are into glow-in-the-dark bowling, the logos on the ball glow orange and green.

The Venom Shock really does have it all – performance, looks, and a great price point.  The most shocking thing about this ball may be that you get such outstanding performance at such an affordable price!

WHEN TO USE:

  • Speed Dominant - Bowlers with higher speeds or moderate speed paired with lower rev rates, the Venom Shock is a great option for control in higher friction environments. Late in league nights or on low volume patterns, the Venom Shock shines for speed dominant bowlers.
  • Balanced - For the balanced bowler the Venom Shock is an absolute must have in the middle of their arsenal.  Balanced bowlers will find that the versatility of the shock allows it to be used in many different volumes and lengths of oil from dry lanes to moderately high volumes of oil.  An added bonus for bowlers who love the Venom Shock is how well it responds to surface changes.
  • Rev Dominant - Those with revs to spare can use the Venom Shock in many volumes of oil and see outstanding down lane continuation for a ball that is conventionally thought of as a control ball.  A shiny Venom Shock is a staple in the bag of many PBA Touring players who want to create some angle without sacrificing control in later transition.

    Venom shock

This was the first Motiv ball that I purchased and I fell in love with it as soon as I threw it. It’s everything Motiv said it was. I have had all my best games with this ball. I love Motiv so much that I now own 4 of them, and I would never bowl with anything else. I would highly recommend this ball to any bowler. This company has great customer service you can always get someone on the phone, they are very professional and have always given me great advice. Answered all my questions and make you feel like you're part of the family.

Always in my bag for league, tournaments or casual bowling!

I have built a nice Motiv arsenal so far in the last 2 years since I started bowling and adding the Venom Shock to my bag was definitely a smart choice!

This ball is so versatile for any lane condition and is always one you can count on when you just cant find that spot.

Great piece to have in any bag, combine this with the fatal venom and you got a deadly combination

Maybe Not a Benchmark but a Must Have!

I’ve had a bit of a love hate with this ball so much so I drilled a number of them thinking I could possibly find what others found so special. My ball review is with respect to all drilled balls and surfaces in hindsight. On fresh, all reactions were generally blended closer to each other and as a reminder to all to adjust surface to tune ball reaction first.

Ball 1 used my default layout 5” x 35deg which puts the pin on grip centerline just above my bridge giving me a quicker/straighter move in the roll phase. With my high rev rate and moderate axis rotation I couldn’t square up with the lane and pushed me left unable to carry the corner unless giving it a good 60-70degs axis rotation which lead to bowler skill issues (me) getting my hand cleanly out of the ball. Surface only exacerbated carry issues and polish made it over/under.

Ball 2 was laid out 5” x 70deg, the dreaded pin down symmetrical… I actually shot a 300 out of the bag in box finish first warming up with the pin up ball and switching to the pin down. This one flared significantly less and really gave it a glide through the middle of the lane. The box finish also worked very well on wood. Unfortunately the lower flare look didn’t hold up well as I migrated left.

Ball 3 was laid out 3.75” x 30 and was my favorite look with this ball. The added flare in my eyes helped match the cover dominate nature of the ball making it start earlier and be more continuous. The ball worked easier with a more moderate hand position 45-55deg. The ball still being relatively strong downlane, I liked it more with a little surface 3000CTD to make it a little rounder. The added traction does push me a little left but also the peace of mind knowing I won't miss the breakpoint.

General observations… if you have higher axis rotation or are speed dominate you will love this ball. For those like myself who are a little more forward it may be a little too strong for typical house shots although getting to the 1-3 will be cake. It’s easily to see why this ball is so popular, pretty, aggressive , and cheap.

    Really is the G.O.A.T

People throw around the term GOAT all the time. I can truly say that this is the number 1 ball in my opinion. I have been able to use this at my home house on many different conditions and also in tournaments. The ball hits so hard. This is coming from a guy that’s a down and in player normally, but with this ball i am able to get my feet left and throw a little bit of a more arching shot if needed. I’m glad I added this piece to my bag.
