When to Use

Speed Dominant - Speed dominant bowlers are often in a quandary to find balls that will give the necessary traction, but still hook down lane enough to carry the corners.  Duramax enhanced Leverage coverstocks are wildly popular with speed dominant bowlers trying to solve this riddle.  The Jackal Onyx provides traction similar to a Jackal Ambush, but with down lane motion much more comparable to a Subzero Forge.  The combination is exactly what speed dominant players are so often seeking for their first ball out of the bag. 

Balanced - For balanced bowlers the Jackal Onyx will be the best option for the highest volumes of friction to break down a pattern, to control wet/dry, and to get a read of a lane.  Many balanced bowlers are huge fans of the Subzero Forge and have stated that an asymmetrical ball with the Leverage + Duramax coverstock would be their favorite ball, so this ball seems like an absolute win.

Rev Dominant - For rev dominant bowlers, the Jackal Onyx will be an outstanding option for maximizing control on long, flat, and heavy oil environments; especially on lower friction lane surfaces.  A benefit of using a Duramax enhanced coverstock is that changes in coverstock preparation make for significant adjustments in ball motion.  Some rev dominant bowlers will enjoy the Jackal Onyx with a shinier finish than the 1000 grit LSS finish out of the box, but no matter what finish a bowler chooses, the Duramax additive will help immensely in keeping that surface consistent longer.

    Second coming of the Ghost!

    The Jackal Onyx follows in the footsteps of the greatest Asym solid ever made, the Jackal Ghost, by offering a stellar amount of on lane control combined with the torque of an asymmetric ball and the continuation that fans have come to expect from the Jackal line. This is the most overall hook we have seen yet from the Jackal line by giving similar strength in the front of the lane to the Jackal Ambush, but with more downlane shape. Expect this to be the biggest ball in your bag that you can plan on hooking on any lane condition. This is a piece we absolutely needed in the line and I can't wait for more people to experience the raw power of the Jackal Onyx!

    Low rev bowler who usually plays straighter even on house shots. But this ball is nuts, ball comes back hard from anywhere and keep going for me. First motiv ball for me and I love it so far.

    Hits like a Mack Truck

    This ball hits like a Mack Truck. It is the only ball I have that hooks on my Tuesday league night. It requires minor adjustment as the night goes on. It delivers through out the night. My average over the last three weeks is 30 pin higher since I starting using the Onyx. This ball is a beast.

    Shot 1st 300 on 5th game

    Big time jackal fan - Already have a Crimson, Mythic, and Ghost. Hd to have this ball. Threw my 1st 300 with this ball on the 5th game out of the box. Predictable hard-hitting motion downlane. Threw my second 300 two days later with my Crimson. The cover DOES retain its surface for quite a few more games than other covers. I found that 1000 was a bit too much for my lane conditions - Changed to 3000 and i found that I could really control this ball with hand position. Can't say enough good things about ANY of the Jackals, but this one is especially pretty and holds a special place for me as my first 300.

    So Strong It's Smooth

    The Jackal Onyx is slotting in exactly where I wanted it to in my bag. Knowing it was going to be as strong in the mid lane as it is, I wanted to double down on that and make sure it would be a good to great addition in my arsenal for when I travel. I chose a short pin layout that has it get into a very early roll making it that much more ideal for when I am battling heavier volume patterns such as when I go to the bowl the Ozarks, Nationals or a sport shot league.

    If you are in need of a big asym solid for your bag, this is the ball you are looking for.
