The claws are out with the new Motiv Jackal Onyx. This beast isn't just another ball in the Jackal line—it's a whole new level. We’ve taken everything that makes the Jackal line unstoppable and cranked it up. With cutting-edge coverstock tech building upon the Subzero Forge, the massive Predator V2 core, and Duramax Technology; the Jackal Onyx is here to devour the competition.  This monster is built for maximum hook and relentless power.

This isn’t just another solid cover—this is a statement. With Duramax tech, the Jackal Onyx holds its surface better, meaning it performs the same in game three as it does on your first throw. No performance drop-off—just consistent, predictable results. And Duramax isn’t just about endurance; it’s about traction. This cover has massive teeth. The Leverage HXC solid coverstock is an evolved version of the Subzero Forge's Leverage MXC, but with even more grip and hook potential, giving you next-level traction without sacrificing backend power. With a 1000-grit LSS finish, the Jackal Onyx is dialed in to rip through heavy oil.

The Predator V2 is a proven winner—MOTIV’s most dominant high-performance core. This core revs up fast and delivers insane flare, giving you the kind of hook that turns heads and breaks records. It’s asymmetric, it’s powerful, and it’s everything you need to crush even the heaviest oil patterns. It’s designed to give you the strongest motion of any ball in your bag.  Get your hands on the Jackal Onyx and unleash the claws.

When to Use

Speed Dominant - Speed dominant bowlers are often in a quandary to find balls that will give the necessary traction, but still hook down lane enough to carry the corners.  Duramax enhanced Leverage coverstocks are wildly popular with speed dominant bowlers trying to solve this riddle.  The Jackal Onyx provides traction similar to a Jackal Ambush, but with down lane motion much more comparable to a Subzero Forge.  The combination is exactly what speed dominant players are so often seeking for their first ball out of the bag.

Balanced - For balanced bowlers the Jackal Onyx will be the best option for the highest volumes of friction to break down a pattern, to control wet/dry, and to get a read of a lane.  Many balanced bowlers are huge fans of the Subzero Forge and have stated that an asymmetrical ball with the Leverage + Duramax coverstock would be their favorite ball, so this ball seems like an absolute win.

Rev Dominant - For rev dominant bowlers, the Jackal Onyx will be an outstanding option for maximizing control on long, flat, and heavy oil environments; especially on lower friction lane surfaces.  A benefit of using a Duramax enhanced coverstock is that changes in coverstock preparation make for significant adjustments in ball motion.  Some rev dominant bowlers will enjoy the Jackal Onyx with a shinier finish than the 1000 grit LSS finish out of the box, but no matter what finish a bowler chooses, the Duramax additive will help immensely in keeping that surface consistent longer.

    WOW, What a Ball!

Picked up my Oynx on Friday the 10th of Jan. I finally got to roll it on Monday, incredibly clean through the fronts and mid-lane with great ball reaction on the back end,. It went through the pins strong! I have a new favorite ball for the fresh. It is very controllable and responded well to adjustments during transitioning lanes. We had 5 bowlers on the lanes, that were all over the place. It dealt with the carry down extremely well. Thanks Motiv, for another great ball

    New favorite ball

I have had the Black Venom, Hyper Venom, Crimson Jackal, and Jackal Ghost. I used this Onyx today for the first time in a local tournament. I am amazed my this ball. It’s the strongest ball in my bag but very controllable. I used it all four games today. By the fourth game I was hooking the whole lane and still had plenty of energy to strike!! Highly recommend this ball, made today so much fun.

    Love the Jackal Onyx

Bowl on a high-volume house shot (34ml) with 43 ft. length. Use the Onyx as my first game ball and sometimes into game 2 if lanes don't break down much. Ball is amazing. First game I bowled with it, I shot a 256 without practice. In fact, since then I have never shot under 200 with this ball. Motiv has hit it out of the park with the Onyx.

    ONYX

Well, I had no intention of getting the Jackal Onyx, due to the fact it is "Too Strong" for everywhere I bowl, except in Tournaments! But, winning this ball for getting another 300 at Wisconsin State, I figured I would drill it up and see what happens! And Glad I did! Drilled it up my normal Asymmetrical setup. As I only have 2 setups, Asym. and Symmetrical drillings. And I will say, the response of this ball isnt what I expected! I was expecting it to hook at my feet, and not even make it down lane, then I was expecting to not finish down lane, I was expecting so much angle, then a bad roll out. But it did the exactly the opposite! It clears the fronts very well on a fresh oil pattern, then stores so much energy down lane, it rolls out very nicely! Being a Lefty, I only left 1 9 pin, only cause I didnt watch my ball speed. Being a 16.5mph bowler at 400 revs, and a medium tilt, the ball is becoming a new favorite in the bag! Hard to keep the Rush in the bag, but My trusty Gold ball has impressed me enough with countless 700 series and 300 games! This new Onyx is definitely ready to come out to play! Its hard to say this, cause I really love the Symmetrical balls, But, The Asymmetrical balls are really starting to capture my eye more and more! Jackals have always been Great! My Golden Jackal stole my heart back when it came out, And a few years later, this Onyx, and the new EXJ Jackal, its going to be great with a new Jackal Bag! Keep it up Motiv! You guys are killing the competition! And I am Loving every minute of it! The PBA LBC is going to be exciting this year! See you all on the Lanes!
