Leverage HXC solid coverstock

This isn’t just another solid cover—this is a statement. With Duramax tech, the Jackal Onyx holds its surface better, meaning it performs the same in game three as it does on your first throw. No performance drop-off—just consistent, predictable results. And Duramax isn’t just about endurance; it’s about traction. This cover has massive teeth. The Leverage HXC solid coverstock is an evolved version of the Subzero Forge's Leverage MXC, but with even more grip and hook potential, giving you next-level traction without sacrificing backend power. With a 1000-grit LSS finish, the Jackal Onyx is dialed in to rip through heavy oil.

Predator V2 Asymmetrical

The Predator V2 is a proven winner—MOTIV’s most dominant high-performance core. This core revs up fast and delivers insane flare, giving you the kind of hook that turns heads and breaks records. It’s asymmetric, it’s powerful, and it’s everything you need to crush even the heaviest oil patterns. It’s designed to give you the strongest motion of any ball in your bag.  Get your hands on the Jackal Onyx and unleash the claws.

When to use

  • Speed Dominant

Speed dominant bowlers are often in a quandary to find balls that will give the necessary traction, but still hook down lane enough to carry the corners.  Duramax enhanced Leverage coverstocks are wildly popular with speed dominant bowlers trying to solve this riddle.  The Jackal Onyx provides traction similar to a Jackal Ambush, but with down lane motion much more comparable to a Subzero Forge.  The combination is exactly what speed dominant players are so often seeking for their first ball out of the bag.

  • Balanced

For balanced bowlers the Jackal Onyx will be the best option for the highest volumes of friction to break down a pattern, to control wet/dry, and to get a read of a lane.  Many balanced bowlers are huge fans of the Subzero Forge and have stated that an asymmetrical ball with the Leverage + Duramax coverstock would be their favorite ball, so this ball seems like an absolute win.

  • Rev Dominant

For rev dominant bowlers, the Jackal Onyx will be an outstanding option for maximizing control on long, flat, and heavy oil environments; especially on lower friction lane surfaces.  A benefit of using a Duramax enhanced coverstock is that changes in coverstock preparation make for significant adjustments in ball motion.  Some rev dominant bowlers will enjoy the Jackal Onyx with a shinier finish than the 1000 grit LSS finish out of the box, but no matter what finish a bowler chooses, the Duramax additive will help immensely in keeping that surface consistent longer.

Nice ball, great for the heavy oil on the center of the lane. Really love the heavy punch to the pocket.

One of the best balls I've ever used!!

Was recommended this ball from the owner of my local pro shop. Within a few months this ball took me from a 105 average to a 190 average. This ball hooks like no other and has a ton of back end energy.

    Jackal onyx

I am a speed dominant just you regular Sunday night league bowler. Getting balls to hook in the heavier oil has always been a challenge for me. Even when playing around the fifth board. After I bought the Jackal Onyx, that problem is now solved. This ball now gives me options to play on the lane. This is one of the best decisions I have made to my bowling bag.

    Great reaction

After throwing a bunch of balls in my bag, I finally added the Motiv Jackal Onyx and wow, what a game changer this has been for me. From the very first game, this ball has lived up to every bit of the hype.

Right out of the gate, the Jackal Onyx impressed me with its smooth yet aggressive roll. The coverstock and core work together to grip the lane hard and generate serious hook potential — especially on heavier oil conditions where other balls tend to fade.

What I noticed most was how confidently I could throw it on fresh oil patterns. It grips early without “rolling out” too soon, maintains a solid mid-lane read, and continues with plenty of momentum into the pins. Even after multiple games, it doesn’t lose its edge — there’s no drop-off in performance as the lane transitions.

For bowlers who like power and predictability, this ball is a dream. Even on heavy conditions that usually make me adjust my approach, the ball kept its line beautifully and hit the pocket with authority. That translates to more consistent strikes and ultimately higher scores.

If you’re serious about performing on heavy oil and want a ball that grips confidently, rolls strong, and hits hard, the Jackal Onyx deserves a spot at the front of your arsenal. Strong first-ball performance, dependable hook, and pin-crushing energy.

Highly recommended for players who bowl in greasy conditions or want a dependable go-to ball that won’t quit on you. This compliments my arsenal well and will be a staple for many years to come!

Was exactly what I needed in Nationals

I used it a few games before heading to Baton Rouge where it killed it. Even on a bad shot, as long as I hit the mark with a bad release, it still hit the pocket. I actually had two oil tracks. Got a 600 series for the first time at Nationals. Would absolutely recommend this ball for slower speed in heavy oil. It keeps it's reaction consistent over several games giving you a good idea of what to expect.
