View Privacy PolicyI always thought it was hyperbole when people used the phrase "house shot killer" until I got this ball.
I pre-ordered this and it's barely left my hand at league night since. If you bowl on a medium to light house shot go and buy this ball right now. Like now! GO!
The most remarkable thing about this ball is how continuous and adaptable it is after the lanes start to transition. If I have a good look with it from the get go the chances are I can stay in it through three games of a high traffic league and still carry.
Now, I've moonlighted at a couple of different centers and not achieved the same results on a higher volume patterns through surface or targeting adjustments. Nor have I bowled on any sport shots with it. That being said - the ball is not advertised for that kind of shot and I am not (often) a tournament bowler. To reiterate if you bowl on a medium to light house shot you have already read too far. Go buy this ball now.

First off, WOW!! what a good looking ball. This ball is extremely clean for me yet predictable and will let you know if you throw it poorly. For me personally on the ball guide id flip this ball with the venom shock its a little quicker off the spot and generates more angle in my hand. This ball slots in to my work horse slot it does a little bit of everything once friction shows itself and allows you to move in and really use the angle in the back to open the pocket up and give you more miss room.

The Motiv Black Venom is a standout bowling ball in the renowned Venom line, and it has quickly become one of my favorites alongside the Venom Shock. This ball offers a level of smoothness and control that is truly impressive.
From the moment I released the Black Venom, I could feel the clean, controlled motion as it effortlessly glided through the oil pattern. Its core and coverstock combination create a perfect harmony, resulting in a smooth transition through the backend and a consistent, predictable reaction.
What sets the Black Venom apart is its exceptional control. It allows bowlers to dictate their shots with precision, making it an excellent choice for players who prefer a controlled, calculated approach. Whether you're a stroker, tweener, or cranker, the Black Venom adapts effortlessly to different styles, offering versatility without compromising control.
Having thrown various balls from the Venom line, the Black Venom has earned its place among the best. While it shares similarities with the Venom Shock, it provides a slightly stronger and more aggressive backend reaction, leading to improved pin carry and increased hitting power.
In summary, if you're looking for a bowling ball that offers smoothness, control, and versatility, the Motiv Black Venom is a fantastic option. It delivers a clean, predictable roll on different oil conditions and is suitable for bowlers of all skill levels. With the Black Venom in your arsenal, you'll feel confident and in control as you conquer the lanes.

I have lot of amazing things to say about this ball but terribly difficult to articulate in short text review. I'm definitely an enthusiast for the game that can dabble a little bit on the lanes but far from your house pro or local regional champ. That being said I don't believe I've shot under 700 since picking one up at release, when the ball is in play.
I'm of the belief there's no bad equipment out there but rather good/great matchups for a bowler and/or condition. Finding the right match can be a big part of high scoring. Today's cliffed house patterns can leave bowlers like me longing for the flatter ratio of a sport or challenge oil pattern.
The Shock and Black Venom push through the heads very similarly but the Shock has a much stronger hook phase and has straight roll off the end of the pattern. The Black Venom is just a bit more of a continuous glider. The characteristic will give you better blend of the lane and/or miss room with hand positions. Adversely it's not as dynamic as the Shock. Skilled hands may shape the Shock more easily with minor changes to hand positions as it reacts to dry much differently. Even with my very high rev rate I can have issues with the Shock's roll through the pins. The Black Venom is a far better fit on house patterns, splitting the 8-9. Both offer excellent control of the pocket.
All and all I must say Motiv is putting out some amazing stuff lately, but I have to put this one up there with my all-time favorite solids, and I've rolled a lot of them... The best stuff for my game Carbide Tank, Black Venom, and Primal Shock (polished), sick league bag. I don't necessarily find the need to roll many pearls but still throwing a nod to the Blue Coral and Shock Pearl.

The Black Venom is an awesome addition to any bowlers bag! The smooth arching motion of this ball makes it a first out of the bag for me in league or on sport shots.
With the Gear core and Leverage cover stock this ball is outstanding allowing me to play either up the boards or move left when the lanes dry up and still have that great continuous motion down lane.
