The Alpha Jackal is by far the strongest of the Jackal line to date. The updated Predator V2 asymmetric core creates low RG and high differential and maximizes track flare. This ball will find the friction from just about anywhere on the lane. I also find this one to be drilling and cover stock friendly. I tested it out of box with a pretty strong layout and had no trouble getting left in a center that doesn’t normally allow that on a fresh shot. I highly recommend this to players looking for something that’s going to hook on heavier oil patterns and slick centers!

I shot 674 out the box without any practice. My average is 175. This ball has great shape with continuous motion and has great flare. It reads the midlane and doesn’t over react on the back end just a smooth transition with strong back end.

This ball is the newest introduction into the Jackal line of MOTIV bowling balls. The MOTIV Alpha Jackal features the Coercion HV3 Solid Reactive cover stock, which is an updated, stronger, solid reactive cover to that which was on the Jackal ghost, combined with the Predator V2 weight block. This asymmetric weight block driving the Alpha Jackal boasts a very low RG and loads of differential. This enables you to maximize both revs and track flare.
It will be a great fit in your bag on heavy or long oil patterns. I have the used Alpha Jackal on high to medium volume sports patterns, as well as on your typical house shots. It's strong and continuous enough to handle the sports patterns and recovers on a house pattern from almost anywhere on the lane. The traction that this ball provides makes it more forgiving on heavy oil patterns than other balls that may slip past your breakpoint.
My Alpha Jackal is laid out with the pin my in ringer finger, CG shifted right, MB about 2” right and below the thumb with no extra hole. Since I started using this ball it is quickly becoming one of my favorites. This ball allows me to create hook and continuation when other balls just won’t get it done. It’s the BIG ball that just doesn’t quit. I have found it to be very versatile, have the ability to generate powerful angles in high volume environments and be continuous beyond belief. MOTIV has hit another Home Run out of the park..

The layout I used on the Alpha Jackal is 50x5x30. I was amazed with how this ball rolled for me. I typically cannot throw many asymmetric cores on house shots due to them using up all their energy in the front part of the lane. For how much the Alpha sees the fronts, it does not quit down lane. This ball is very continuous and will work well on fresh house shots and heavy oil patterns. The Alpha Jackal will be traveling with me for a while as my strongest ball in my bag.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve never had any success with a Jackal, or a big asymmetrical ball for that matter. After a lot of research I decided the layouts may have been the issue with my slightly rev dominant style. So I tried something much weaker than I typically would have on a ball like this. I ended up with 70 x 4.5 x 40. Wow what a difference.
Of course this high performance, solid, asymmetrical, strong ball hooks. That’s not the impressive part. The impressive part to me is how it’s able to start very early, yet maintain energy for the backend to go through the pins with. On a house shot the Alpha forced me to play VERY deep, but the early rolling nature does NOT force this ball to burn up and hit dead. It continues through the pins as I’m playing a much straighter line. Easily the biggest hooking ball I’ve thrown, but more importantly than that, the continuation is the impressive part. I’ve yet to see the ball deflect, which is what I’ll commonly run into with these high performance balls, especially on a house shot.
All in all the part of this ball that stands out to me is this; the position on the ball chart is exactly spot on, and it’s definitely the TOP of the chart. Also, it’s heavy rolling and carries well while being forgiving and user friendly.
The only downside (to me, personal preference) is I don’t love the color, but watching this ball go through the pins make the color really easy to ignore if you don’t care for it.
