A great competitive advantage in bowling today is modern urethane.  It provides bowlers with control and the ability to play different parts of the lane than reactive resin.  However, because urethane also has clear weaknesses, MOTIV® set out to create the ultimate cover material that harnesses the strengths of traditional urethane, but offers far more versatility. Introducing the Covert Tank. 

The revolutionary Frixion™ cover material MOTIV® developed for the Covert Tank is not urethane nor reactive resin. It is microcell polymer. Traditional urethane is virtually non-absorbing while reactive resin is highly absorbent.  Frixion™ microcell polymer absorbs oil at a fraction of the speed of reactive resin, but is still capable of absorbing oil at a very slow rate.  This microscopic difference creates more continuation and better pin carry without sacrificing traction. 

While typical urethane balls are primarily used by bowlers with a high rev rate, the Covert Tank is a more versatile piece that will benefit more styles of play because it merges this new microcell polymer cover with a strong Torx™ weight block.  The higher differential produces more track flare, which both improves backend motion and also limits oil redistribution.  Traditional urethane balls tend to have lower track flare, struggle with pin carry, and push more oil down lane.

Even the color scheme of the Covert Tank was created with the competitive bowler in mind.  The solid black cover with dark gray pearl NeoMark graphics provides a crisp contrast to the lane surface so ball motion is easy to see.

    I've never had a ball read the lanes quite like this one has. I have a very strong drilling on this ball I don't know exact specs but it's very smooth not a lot of quick changes in direction but where I struggle is when the wet/dry conditions happen and I struggle to find a ball that can even out the wet/dry and get a consistent reaction and this ball does not lack in that department. When the lanes even get toasty I just move a tad left give it some oil and it doesn't over hook or over flip. By far one of the best balls I've ever gotten from Motiv. They keep pushing the boundaries with what they can do with cover and core technology and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this company. I won't throw anything else nothing rolls like Motiv. I'm brand loyal and will never change.

    Covert Tank

    This ball is absolutely amazing. It’s the favorite ball on my arsenal. When I’m bowling on shorter pattern and my Rampage isn’t quite breaking enough, this ball will work great and I can throw well on medium patterns as well.

    Burnt oil killer!!!

    I am super surprised at how much this ball recovers. With traditional urethane you couldn’t move too far inside or else the ball wouldn’t make the turn back. The Covert Tank does. It has the urethane motion but covers as many boards as the lower/mid end performance balls. The Covert Tank is the ideal ball for drier/burnt conditions.

    Covert Tank Rolls Over and Crushes Pins!

    For my first Motiv ball, the Covert Tank is exactly what I was looking for when the lane starts breaking down hard. It has that urethane roll, but definitely more aggressive in the back end. This ball is exactly what you need when your league has torn up all the oil and everything is over-reacting. 5/5.

    Great ball for me on league house shot

    First ball out of my bag. Really clean thru the fronts. Very predictable. Suprising that it doesn't scoot thru the oil with picking up. I throw all different high bland mid level balls and they all seem to overreact or under react. This ball I can use and consistently score above 660 each night because it leaves spares you can pick up consistently. Love love love this ball
