A great competitive advantage in bowling today is modern urethane.  It provides bowlers with control and the ability to play different parts of the lane than reactive resin.  However, because urethane also has clear weaknesses, MOTIV® set out to create the ultimate cover material that harnesses the strengths of traditional urethane, but offers far more versatility. Introducing the Covert Tank. 

The revolutionary Frixion™ cover material MOTIV® developed for the Covert Tank is not urethane nor reactive resin. It is microcell polymer. Traditional urethane is virtually non-absorbing while reactive resin is highly absorbent.  Frixion™ microcell polymer absorbs oil at a fraction of the speed of reactive resin, but is still capable of absorbing oil at a very slow rate.  This microscopic difference creates more continuation and better pin carry without sacrificing traction. 

While typical urethane balls are primarily used by bowlers with a high rev rate, the Covert Tank is a more versatile piece that will benefit more styles of play because it merges this new microcell polymer cover with a strong Torx™ weight block.  The higher differential produces more track flare, which both improves backend motion and also limits oil redistribution.  Traditional urethane balls tend to have lower track flare, struggle with pin carry, and push more oil down lane.

Even the color scheme of the Covert Tank was created with the competitive bowler in mind.  The solid black cover with dark gray pearl NeoMark graphics provides a crisp contrast to the lane surface so ball motion is easy to see.

    Absolutely Amazing

    I'm a league bowler that bowls on a house shot and still this ball gets down lane thanks to the urethane and it doesn't matter how wide I go thanks to the reactive resin it always comes back into the pocket. I have recommended this ball to many of my one handed friends that have mid to high revs and actually one did buy it and he doesn't regret it and neither do I.

    Great Control

    This is my second Urethane ball I’ve owned from Motiv. This ball is so easy to read on the lanes, very controllable, and still tons of pin action. I would easily recommend this ball for anyone who still bowls on wood lanes. I have a ton of revs so this ball is my ball of choice in my two houses(wood lanes). All around a great ball

    Wow

    I have been throwing this ball for about three weeks in two different leagues. I usually average around 210 and with this ball I am averaging around 220. This ball has beautiful predictable motion down lane. It doesn’t overreact when it sees friction. I love everything about this ball; it is awesome

    About Me I feel my style is similar to Wes Mallot's. I am 6ft 5in tall bowler. Rev dominant (325 rpm), medium ball speed (15.5 mph off hand, 14.5 at break, and 13.5 at pins), Pap is 5 7/8's 1 inch up. I have one 300 back when it was harder to get them in ABC.

    Holy Grail of Bowling Balls (want Urethane motion with pop get a Covert Tank!!)

    I see far less back row leaves with this ball compared to traditional urethane. This ball is wonderful. My friends see it and wish they had a urethane ball that rolls like this. My response buy a Covert Tank and you will have better than a urethane... I start with Talon in my sport league, transition to Recoil, and my trusted Covert Tank in 3rd game. On house shot I can use this ball all day long. I have done well rolling it during cash Thunder/Monte Carlo. My teammates don't gripe or grimace when I pull the Covert Tank out (unlike a urethane ball) this ball does not create issues for other bowlers.

    This ball has it all

    I've been struggling in my local league lately in the 2nd and 3rd games as the lane conditions start to really transition. There always seems to be this wet/dry type condition going on near the breakpoint, likely due to a teammate throwing urethane exclusively on similar lines to me. I decided to buy the Covert Tank to see what it could do for me in these situations and man did it perform! Last night I switched to the Tank for the final game and finished strong. The ball motion is strong yet predictable and the drive through the pocket is way better than any urethane ball I've ever thrown. I am a massive fan of this Microcell Polymer and I hope Motiv continues using it in the future. Thanks for being innovative and making solid products Motiv.
