The new Forge Flare is the strongest cover we’ve seen to date. The truly amazing part, from what I’ve seen with mine, drilled 5x70, is how continuous it still is. While the RG and differential numbers are close between the Alpha Jackal and the Forge Flare, the cover makes the Flare quite a bit more in overall hook, and the symmetric Detonator core allows for more shape down lane than the Jackal core being asymmetric, and wanting to get very forward at the friction. If you want a ball that hooks, with a cover that doesn’t lane shine, that is versatile enough to play all over the lane, you want the Forge Flare.

The Forge Flare is one of the newest releases from MOTIV Bowling. You want hook, but control as well then the Forge Flare belongs in your bag. The Flare brings together Detonator core and the new Coercion MXC Solid Reactive cover stock. This new cover stock is the strongest cover stock that MOTIV has ever made and will give the bowler strong continuation through the pins. Pairing this with the Detonator core will give the Forge Flare faster revving power and strong, continuous, ball motion that gives the pins no chance to stand. You want hook then look no further to the Forge Flare.

My first reaction in throwing the Forge Flare for the first time was straight speechlessness. Not many bowling balls have left me like that after throwing them for the first time but the Forge Flare was one of them. What can I say other than I can’t believe people can make a bowling ball this strong and yet still be able to use it on any condition. I can use this as is on any condition because the hook is still quite controllable and I don’t give the pocket away on any part of the lane. And the best feature of the Forge Flare is it doesn’t lane shine at all and for me where I prefer surface on a bowling ball this is a big deal. Even when I took it down to 4000, it still didn’t shine. All types of bowlers will love the Forge Flare because as lanes transition either by moving in or tightening up, the Forge Flare will still give you the continuation without giving away the pocket.

The forge flare is undoubtedly the most unique ball I have ever thrown. This ball digs so hard in the front and midlane but still somehow continues through the pins. The more left I moved the stronger the ball got. I was able to stay in this ball through a whole 10 game sweeper event and just kept moving left. This ball seems to take the out of bounds away by how hard it digs into the lane but unlike any other solid strong ball, it continues through the pocket. With the original forge I had to be more forward with the ball and the further left I got the ball would seem to just burn up and not recover downlane, But not this coverstock! It keeps going and going and going! This ball will give any player and advantage.

This new Forge Flare is the perfect compliment to the Forge Fire. If the Fire doesn’t quite get there through the heavier oil rest assured the Flare will have no issues. The Flare is the single strongest symmetrical piece Motiv had ever had hit the lanes to this point. It’s so strong and it picks up its roll really early which is perfect for those higher volume patterns. I have played with the surface a tad, putting it at 4000 and it goes a tad longer but it’s so smooth. Of course it still packs that pin deck power from Motiv that everyone knows and loves also. Add in it’s the brightest ball Motiv has ever produced, the colors are awesome making it so easy to get a good read on your shoots. Once again another great addition to an already strong ball chart by the best company in bowling.
