View Privacy PolicyThis ball is latest in the very successful Forge line created by MOTIV. The MOTIV Iron Forge is, without a doubt, the strongest pearl symmetric ever manufactured by MOTIV to date. This core to cover combination creates unbelievable angle on medium-heavy oil conditions. It features the Detonator weight block, as in previous Forges, in combination with the proven Infusion MVP Pearl Reactive cover stock seen on the Rip Cord Velocity. The Infusion cover provides ease of length with a pronounced response to friction at the end of the pattern, while the core is stable, with a wide footprint. This combination equals more total hook.
It will be a great fit in your bag on medium to heavy oil. With the low RG / high differential core, is ball is an absolute beast. it is built to allow a balanced bowler, like myself, to keep up with the rev-dominant bowlers through transition. The Iron Forge will become that ball you can count on when you need length and it comes off the backend like no ball I’ve ever thrown before. It stores energy and continue through the pin deck.
My Iron Forge is laid out with the pin above and just to the right of the ring finger and the cg shifted about 2” to the right of that. This ball has already found a place in my bag and drives through the pins with easy from any angle. If you are looking for that go to ball that will clear the fronts, recover from what seems like anywhere, has continuation and awesome hitting power. Look no further, you've found it.

When started in the oil this ball is smooth, overall the ball is clean and strong a happy combination. Friction in my particular house starts around the 7 board, but it is a low volume shot with some volume in the middle. If I missed inside (just a little) the ball was through the nose, but if I missed way inside, run away Brooklyn with messengers flying everywhere.
The shot in this house saw the ball revving up smoothly and then when it hit the friction a controlled turn with acceleration to the pocket going off the deck close to the 8 pin. Of note there were at least three shots where I missed way outside (out to the 1-3 board area), however, the Iron Forge still made it back to the pocket and carried all three. This ball is smooth, continuous, and strong there are no violent turns.
After watching all the Motiv staffers throw this ball on YouTube and some independent reviews my expectations for the ball based on my style of bowling was that it would be a strong “track” ball for me that would allow me to miss right. What actually happened after I got it in my hands, was a beast that on low volume pushed me to the left and let me swing the lane, my hope is that on higher volume it will allow me to play straighter, similar to WRWJ and Norm Duke, with the controlled turn and acceleration off the end of the pattern. I have another league today, looking forward to seeing more of this ball.
(First night summary) I threw this for the first time last night (12/1/21) and here are the results: Standing left foot on 30, I’m right handed, sliding around 20 targeting 8 at the arrows out to 4. First frame game one big four, I missed inside. In the third frame of the first game I made a move 5 and 2 left clean until the first ball in the 10th another big four where the 7 fell late 210. Second game spare 10 bagger 288, third game transition and I was behind it till the 5th frame spare city, moved two right with my feet only, off the sheet 247.
I'd say this ball just made it into my tournament bag for the Military Championship 2022 in January in Las Vegas

This ball using the stronger core from the Forge line, and the amazing cover from the Ripcord Velocity make this a great ball to have in every bag. The cover gives you the ability to have a cleaner look during the transition games while the stronger core helps it to start rolling earlier than the Velocity. Ball has been rated the most backend of any ball ever by BTM, and there is no debate as to why.

A pearl Forge has been on many wish lists ever since the line first debuted. The MOTIV Iron Forge is a worthy release to fill this want, and more. The proven Detonator core (2.47 RG, .055 Differential) has been wrapped in the ultra-responsive Infusion MVP Pearl coverstock providing the mid-lane reliability of the Forge line while adding the most explosive backend reaction the medium-heavy category has seen to date.
Knowing the power and roll-heavy motion produced by the Detonator core, I wanted to put a layout on my Iron Forge that would take advantage of its mid-lane read without hampering the backend energy retained by the Infusion MVP Pearl. Out of box, this ball is an excellent first transition weapon on heavier conditions because it is strong enough to start biting through the oil early while providing a quick enough response time at the spot for those growing angles of attack. This reaction is also quite prevalent as a fresh, medium level piece that easily glides through the fronts, creates good mid-lane flare without bleeding energy, and snaps on the backend all the way through the pit. I decided to beef mine up a bit by hitting it with 2000 abralon by hand to provide sharper teeth for fresher conditions. I was pleasantly surprised by the results produced by this change. I saw my ball start to read the lane a solid three feet earlier, yet it lost none of its backend motion. Now I can start the day on my medium-heavy house shot crossing around 14 and stay in this ball for quite a way beyond fourth arrow. Such versatility from a pearl shell is not easy to come by.
Clean in the fronts. Strong mid-lane read and flare. Commanding backend motion once friction is found. The Iron Forge is truly a special piece that should have universal appeal for all styles of bowlers across many layers of oil patterns.

I thought the jackal flash was sharp.. this thing literally looks like someone kicked it sideways at the breakpoint. Heavy rolling yet sharp off the spot. Unlike anything I've thrown in ALMOST 50 years.
