I thought the jackal flash was sharp.. this thing literally looks like someone kicked it sideways at the breakpoint. Heavy rolling yet sharp off the spot. Unlike anything I've thrown in ALMOST 50 years.

I've been throwing this ball for a while now, and it has never stopped amazing me with what it can do!
First off, this is one of the most beautiful bowling balls I have ever drilled. The silver and red play off of each other perfectly to create a very distinct look both on the shelf and on the lane.
I tend to have trouble with pearl balls, because they are too clean for me and I miss the breakpoint or they just never see the lane how I need them to. However I have had no issues with this piece. While the Iron Forge still is clean and has that pearl "pop" down lane, I see this ball being a bit more rolly with that detonator core. I have had success throwing the Iron Forge on a multitude of patterns, and it quickly became a staple of my bag. I think everyone needs to give this one a try!

I was looking for a new orb that didn't read early off the back end of a pattern, this certainly is it. You'll certainly know it makes the turn, even with a pin down layout. Having seen the Infusion cover on the Ripcord Velocity, length was not a concern, but with the Detonator core, the move off the breakpoint is an eye opener. This ball adds to the already wide variety of shapes in the Motiv line, allowing a wide variety of styles to score from the younger two handers up to the older (senior) players not with the speed had in earlier years like myself.
One barometer for me occurs in what happens the first five to ten shots down the lane. First ball was a messenger strike in a house not known for messengers. Second full game in league with it carried the front ten.
This ball will be in the bag for awhile. Should have known another Motiv ball with even a little bit of red in it (original Primal Rage, Primal Rage LE, Red Tank) put an immediate smile on my face. Get one.

When I first drilled my Iron Forge, I had a preconceived idea of what it might do with the core and cover combination. Infusion MVP in my opinion is our fastest responding cover formula down lane and it was featured on the Ripcord Velocity. The Velocity for me was amazing when the lanes got beat up and I needed something super clean and really angular for when I moved further left. At times, I felt I needed to make the Velocity start, which got me out of my comfort zone because I felt I needed to do too much with my hand.
This is where the Iron Forge fits PERFECTLY in our line. The Iron Forge fits perfectly between balls like the Pride, and our cleaner balls like the Velocity as an option for transition games when you need something cleaner, but still need the get the ball to start up. The stronger Detonator Core in the Forge series really helps the ball pick up earlier than a Velocity, but is a much cleaner option for when you need to shell down to get your ball through the fronts.

First and foremost Motiv hit an absolute grand slam on the shelf appeal for this one. I understand it’s personal preference, but the red/gray/silver polished cover looks EXCELLENT on the shelf.
Several times prior to this release, I see very over/under reactions with pearl covers. Often times I throw it through the break point, or get it out a little quick and it jumps through the nose on me. This Iron Forge is different. I have never seen a ball with a better balance of mid-lane read, easy length, and strong but controllable angularity. It isn’t so strong that it jumps on pulled shots, strong enough to recover well on shots I miss, and any time I get that kind of forgiveness out of a ball that checks the shelf appeal block…I’m a fan.
As with all Motiv balls, it hits and carries extremely well. It’s an excellent piece of equipment, and I look forward to using it every chance I get.
