The Iron Forge™ is, without a doubt, the strongest pearl symmetric Motiv has made to date.  The latest addition to the popular Forge™ line, the Iron Forge™ has the same Detonator™ core as previous Forges™, but with the proven Infusion™ MVP pearl seen on the Ripcord™ Velocity.  The combination creates unbelievable angle on broken down medium-heavy patterns. This ball loves it when the friction shows up!

Inside the Iron Forge™ is the Detonator™ core.  This low rg / high differential core is the same absolute beast of a core used in the ultra strong Forge™ Flare.  The low rg and high differential core is stable, with a wide footprint on the lane; this combination equals more total hook, but also more mid-lane traction and control than other symmetrical core options.  This uniquely strong symmetrical core is what allows us to use such a clean and angular coverstock in moderately heavy oil patterns.

Around the Iron Forge™ is the Infusion™ MVP coverstock, the fastest response and most angular cover ever made by MOTIV®.  This polished cover has only previously been used on the Ripcord™ Velocity, which is widely accepted as the most angular ball ever made by MOTIV®.  Using Infusion™ MVP with such a strong core allows bowlers to see that proven angle when higher volume oil patterns begin to breakdown and the friction shows up.  The Iron Forge™ offers oustanding length, energy retention, and an impressive backend.  

When To Use:

Speed Dominant Bowlers: The incredibly strong core in the Iron Forge™ allows for speed dominant players to use a pearlized coverstock when that may have been difficult in the past.  Many speed dominant players are forced to use solids and hybrids rather than pearls simply because a clean cover combined with a clean core oftens skids too far for their game.  The Iron Forge™ allows these players to have an angular option in their bag when no other symmetrics would be strong enough.

Balanced Bowlers: The uniqueness of the Iron Forge™ for balanced bowlers is that the strong cover / angular core combination allows them to keep up with rev-dominant bowlers through transition.  When rev-dominant bowlers see transition, one of their great advantages is being able to create angle and follow transition into the pattern earlier than the rest of the field.  A high flare, fast spinning core paired with a sideways cover lets balanced bowlers stay ahead of transition without sacrificing carry or fearing that their ball will miss the breakpoint. 

Rev Dominant Bowlers: For rev dominant bowlers, this is a strong pearl cover that will allow for seeing length and control on higher friction surfaces even from the beginning of a block.  The Iron Forge™ is strong enough that many rev dominant bowlers will have the luxury of using a pearl coverstock on fresh oil, which is incredibly rare.  PBA Bowler Zac Tackett said that he was most excited that this was a ball he could use for an entire block.

    Iron Forge is super strong in the back end. It’s the best compliment for a blacksmith on the lanes then he could ask for. Probably the best looking ball out going down the lane. When oil machine gets put away the Iron Forge with that beautiful pearl cover stock turns so hard toward the pocket that it appears I’m taking 10 pin practice. Then all of a sudden it turns left and blows up the pins. Almost looks like a bomb went off at the end of the lane.

    Strengths
    Infusion MVP Pearl is angular and highly responsive to friction, the 5000 grit surface allows the Iron Forge to store everything it has for the dry back ends. Detonator core keeps the Iron Forge from getting too far down the lane before making its big move.

    The back end is you will see the majority of the muscle from the Iron Forge, although Infusion MVP Pearl doesn’t necessarily plow through the oil it take advantage of friction upon encounter.
    Because Iron Forge retains energy for the back end and responds to friction very well, it’s rather useful on medium conditions and transition.

    Weaknesses
    The angular ball motion of Iron Forge can give bowlers over/under should they improperly attack the pattern, however breaking the cover will reduce its sensitivity overall should that be your desire.

    Overall Summary
    Iron Forge is the 4th installment of the Forge line created by Motiv, as its predecessors it is powered by the Detonotor core however the coverstock wrapped around it is Infusion MVP Pearl Reactive. The Forge line is what replaced the legendary Revolt line, as the 4th Revolt was United the 4th Forge is Iron and I treated it a such.


    Iron Forge is an angular weapon that will give you and angular motion from a forward roll standpoint instead of a checkmark, when I got Iron Forge into the friction earlier than what I wanted to it sat up and rolled to the left.
    As much as I enjoyed Iron Forge out of box I really enjoyed the ball motion I got upon going over it with a green scotch brite, the green scotch brite slowed the angularity down just enough for me to sit on top of it and wait on it which something I enjoy doing.

    I encourage anyone in the market for a giant pearl to take a look at Iron Forge, continuation is not a gimmick it is the truth.

    About Me Ok at 50 l started back to bowling after 10 year absence. Bowl 5 nights a week and have switched to Motiv this year.

    Switched from my go to brand to Motiv this year.

    In December I was given the Jackal Legacy and bowled with last 3 weeks of December 2021. I now have the Iron Forge and Venom Shock.

    The Iron forge is very controllable for this Lefty. I have about a 10 board swing and the pocket hit is very low and carry is great and the messengers are awesome, carrying some spares or splits l would of been shooting at with my prior equipment.

    Finally!!!

    Arsenal Complete!!! Finally the Ball needed for when you need that extra snap in the backend. The Pearl cover runs clean through the oil, hunting for the friction. And since it is a Pearl. It continues a bit further than most. But, once it finds the friction it kicks hard towards the pocket. The Detonator Symmetrical core helps to keep the ball controllable since it is such a strong core! The Infusion MVP pearl cover is the cleanest and most angular cover which makes the Core Cover combination Perfect!
    Bravo Motiv! This is one ball that will Never leave the bag! Not only is the performance exactly what was needed, but the looks are phenomenal! The silver is tastefully accented with the blood red tint. The pour is one of my all time favorites as well!
    Keep it up! You never cease to amaze me with the new line up!
