One of the longest running MOTIV® product lines, the Tanks are the premiere bowling balls for control on the harshest conditions. The latest addition to this legendary line is the Purple Tank™.  

The Tank™ series changed forever with the introduction of Microcell Polymer technology. While Microcell Polymer (MCP) is now recognized as the solution for the ball motion gap between reactive resin and urethane, MCP does not replace urethane completely. With that in mind, MOTIV® has been in pursuit of a truly special urethane cover stock that provides adequate traction on modern lane surfaces conditioned with the high volume, high viscosity oil patterns competitive bowlers see so regularly.  

Now, MOTIV® is unveiling the brand new Purple Solid Urethane cover stock. It builds on the technology of Microcell Polymer, but it eliminates the oil absorption that causes MCP covers to shape down lane. This new cover allows the Purple Tank™ to display incredible control along with the aggressive traction seen from previous MCP balls like the Tank™ Blitz. It is ready to dominate when true urethane is needed in battle.

To boost the control factor, the Flux™ core is employed on the Purple Tank™ to lower the track flare potential. Previously used in the Desert Tank™, the Flux™ core is the proven solution for wet/dry conditions when the bowler needs to use shallow angles.

When to Use

Urethane bowling balls are now a staple for use on difficult oil patterns, short oil sport conditions, and for rev dominant bowlers seeking control when resin is just too much. The Purple Tank™ is prepared for battle on all these conditions because it displays outstanding traction in the mid-lane with the control down-lane that only urethane can provide.

    Just what the Dr ordered

    I didn't know I needed this ball till I threw it.

    Now I'm not a high Rev guy with a ton of RPM, but I still find conditions that just have to much over/under for my Reactive gear.

    Time to grab the Purple Tank. Predictable is the name of the game here. Move right and give this thing a little friction and it will make you a happy bowler.

    I haven't found a condition where it runs out of energy and hits the pocket soft. If I give it what it needs to make it to the pocket, it's there and driving through the pins hard.

    I don't need it often, but when I do, this ball will ALWAYS be in my bag.

    Urethane with Versatility

    The Purple Tank is my first urethane ball and really has become a great first experience. I knew urethane could tend to be a more situational type of ball but the Purple Tank has impressed me with its versatility. As a strike ball it provides a predictable but STRONG motion downlane, especially on shorter patterns. If I'm completely lost, I know I can pull out this ball and put it somewhere close to the pocket reliably. For me personally it has also worked extremely well for shooting 10 pins or picking up spares left on the right side of the lane. I know where this ball will move and can easily straighten out my angles. It gives me a spare ball and a reliable strike ball all in one urethane package. The name doesn't lie either, when this thing hits the pocket it hits like a TANK. Pick one up if you're curious about urethane! This ball won't let ya down.

    Awesome ball.

    This ball is legendary. I got it for urethane use, but then realized I hadn’t had a spare ball. Since I'm a two hander, I had the ball put to 5500 grit with a polish and it works so well. Awesome ball and AMAZING spare ball. 10/10

    Never had a ton of success with urethane but this ball is the exception to that rule. Allows me to keep everything in front of me and still hits hard

    Great ball

    My first urethane. I have it drilled straight up for late game/dry conditions. Will carry like a tank thru the pins. Stacked 6 strikes together for the first time with this ball. I will get another to drill strong.
