It’s all about angle! From core to cover, the Ripcord™ Velocity is built to fly fast and corner hard.  

The dual-density Oblivion™ core is a complex work of engineering unlike anything else in the world.  It features a massive flip-block to make the Ripcord™ Velocity come off the oil pattern as violently as possible.  And with a high RG and moderate differential the Oblivion™ core is dialed in for versatility on medium oil conditions.  “We’ve had this core for a few years now and I feel like we are still learning tricks that we can do with it,” said MOTIV® Tour Rep Nick Pahr. 

To take full advantage of the dynamic characteristics of the Oblivion core, MOTIV® is featuring new Infusion™ MVP Reactive cover stock on the Ripcord Velocity.  Evolving from the technology used on the Fatal Venom, Infusion MVP produces easy length and an unbelievable change of direction down lane. “This new cover technology is allowing us to shape the ball and create angles that we haven’t seen before”, said Brett Spangler of MOTIV.  Tuned with a 5500 Grit LSP finish, the Ripcord Velocity has speed to spare.  

When To Use:

  • Speed Dominant: Speed dominant players will use the Velocity as their burn ball.  What the Velocity offers is more angle down lane than anything else available.  For speed dominant players, that is the last crucial piece in the progression, a ball that can make the corner when they have to use angle. 
  • Balanced: When balanced bowlers need help through the front and angle through the pins, the Ripcord Velocity is the best option.  For balanced bowlers on higher friction surfaces where the front of the lane is an issue, this Ripcord will have no problem giving the length needed with a surprising pop down lane. 
  • Rev Dominant: For players who have rev rate to spare, the Ripcord Velocity is like cheating.  The incredible angles this ball can create for a rev dominant player are something nobody else on the lane will be able to mimic.  When getting steep is key, rev dominant players will have an unfair advantage with the Ripcord Velocity.

    This ball is latest in the very successful Rip Cord line created by MOTIV. The MOTIV Ripcord Velocity is all about angle. This core to cover combination creates more angle then seen before in any MOTIV ball created for medium oil. It features the dual density Oblivion weight block, in combination with the new Infusion MVP Pearl Reactive cover stock. The Infusion cover provides ease of length with a pronounced response to friction at the end of the pattern. It’s built to fly fast and corner hard and will not disappoint on either asset.

    It will be a great fit in your bag on light to medium oil. With the high RG and moderate differential, it is built for versatility on medium oil conditions, retaining energy, while the dual density weight block and high differential take over to produce a violent skid-flip backend reaction. The Rip Cord Velocity will become that ball you can count on when you need length and backend recovery, it stores energy and continue through the pin deck.

    My Ripcord Velocity is laid out pin in the ring finger, the cg shifted about 2” to the right. This ball has already found a place in my bag and drives through the pins with easy from any angle. If you are looking for that go to ball that will clear the fronts, recover from what seems like anywhere, has continuation and awesome hitting power. Look no further, you've found it.

    This ball has been absolutely amazing. Since I drilled the ball, I have done nothing but strike. This ball is strong off the spot and drives, hard. I can get left with this ball and it keeps coming back no matter how far left I go. Amazing ball that everyone should have in their bag.

    Ripcord Velocity

    I highly recommend getting this ball since I’ve gotten i scored higher then I normally have until I got this ball. Once I started throwing Motiv more my scores have increased a lot a lot. Once I got the ripcord Velocity my scores improved more. Close to 300 games and really improved. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BALL

    Ripcord Velocity (noun): 1. uses the Oblivion Symmetric core shape that was used previously in the Paranoia series and in the first two Ripcord balls. 2. Infusion MVP Pearl Reactive veneer is prepped with a 5500 grit polished box finish. 3. Continues the tradition of strong down lane motion allowing you to open your angles.

    Strengths
    Ripcord Velocity will give you a lot of its muscle up front when it encounters friction, this also allows it provide suitable back end motion for a variety oof rev rates.
    Infusion MVP Pearl is what gives Ripcord Velocity length which makes it ideal fitting between Fatal Venom or other dull weaponry you may have in your arsenal.
    The traction that Ripcord Velocity creates somewhat reduces its back end just enough that it fits below that of Jackal Flash and Supra, however it still provides a strong ball motion down lane.
    Weaknesses
    Because Ripcord Velocity has a strong roll to it as the friction increases it can become too much ball depending on the user, as the friction increases it will nudge you further away from your comfort zone. To combat this you make want to ball down or move your breakpoint.
    Overall Summary
    Using Ripcord Velocity on the conditions it was designed for gave me my best looks, medium oil in particular as I was able to play where I am most comfortable which is standing left and throwing right. I had plenty of down lane recovery as Ripcord Velocity is strong off the friction, as the transition came it became a matter of projection manipulation. I consider Ripcord Velocity an excellent choice for playing steeper angles after opening the lanes up with Forge Flare or Jackal Legacy, to an extent I had success on heavier patterns taking advantage of the heavy roll. Smaller rev rates will find Ripcord Velocity useful in regard to the strong ball motion it provides down lane, out of box it is cleaner than both Forge Flare and Jackal Legacy but will change direction just as hard down lane.

    Ball is QUICK

    The combination of the dual density oblivion core, and the new version of the Infusion MVP Reactive cover is an absolute home run. This ball provides supremely easy length, while still reading the lane early enough to not have to worry about throwing it by the hook spot. When you need to open up the lanes, and go around it with something fast, this is the ball for you. It also still retains incredible amounts of energy, even from deeper angles. When the lanes start hooking, pull on the Ripcord Velocity!
