Rogue Assassin

5.0Read Reviews

The proven core and cover of the Rogue Assassin combine for an unstoppable combination.  Bowlers searching for a benchmark control ball on medium oil have found their match in the Rogue™ Assassin.  The Rogue™ Assassin provides traction in the oil, but with less total hook than a Jackal™ Ghost or Forge™.  Increased friction and a controllable down lane motion merge for a deadly combination.

The proven Sigma™ core is the standard for benchmark performance.  The Sigma™ core provides stability in the mid-lane that bowlers expect from a medium oil benchmark ball.

Coercion™ HFS is finally available on a medium oil ball!  This proven cover has been used for heavier oil covers and is now available on the Rogue™ Assassin.   Coercion™ HFS is intended to increase friction in moderate to high volume environments to provide a controllable down lane motion.

    Greatest Combo Ever!

Peanut Butter and Jelly, Shaq and Kobe, Sigma Core and Coercion HFS Reactive Coverstock. Motiv out did themselves with this one. The Rogue Assassin is the ball that has it all. The proven Sigma Core with the Coercion HFS reactive coverstock provide everything that you could and need in a bowling ball. The arc motion and the overall hook that it provides is a bowler's dream. The coverstock adds to the power of the ball not only climbing through oil with ease but creating enough power through the pins to increase your carry! As a lower rev/slower speed kind of guy, the Rogue Assassin has allowed me to move left and keep up with the high rev players with the ball going through the pins without losing any carry. I've seen success with this ball on both league conditions and heavier tournament patterns. The sigma core is my favorite Motiv core ever and with the Coercion HFS coverstock on it, it is just the perfect combination for any bowler. Go get yours today!

    Rogue Assassin

The new Rogue Assassin is a great benchmark piece. The Coercion HFS Reactive coverstock wrapped around the proven Sigma core makes this ball an exceptional piece in an arsenal. I can see this ball being used quite often early in blocks on medium to higher volume patterns. The Assassin is very clean through the front part of the lane and has plenty of pop off the friction, and it doesn't slow down once it sees it. The continuation from this ball is simply incredible.

    ASSASSIN Is Waiting

The Rogue Assassin is the best of both worlds.. Possibly the best core MOTIV ever produced in the Sigma Core and Possibly the best cover stock MOTIV came out with in the Coercion HFS. You have the core from the Sigma ball line and the cover from the Jackal Ghost. What else could you ask for?

This ball is a great addition to my bag. This ball has an RG of 2.47 and a DIFF. of .047. It is also LASER SCANNED SANDED at 3,000 grit.
This ball is great on the fresh house shot or moderately broken down shot. So this ball should be good for all 3 games of league day in and day out depending on your centers house conditions. Also, this ball pairs really nice with the Venom Recoil and the Rip Cord.

Eliminate the competition from the shadows!

If a champion seemed to be unbeatable or too protected in the open, other means may be considered in ancient times; a different strategy would need to be considered. A form of stealth may need to be taken to dethrone… or… ‘eliminate’ the champion once and for all… When the world is reduced to the basics of winning and losing, all measures may need to be considered!

MOTIV has once again introduced us to a new solution for the ‘elimination’ of your opponents. An element of stealth can be found in this new piece. We find ourselves looking at a piece with a high-powered (high-friction) cover stock but it's driven by a core that provides its user with a controllable down-lane motion. In the shadows, we find the Rogue Assassin! The stealth factor of this one is found in its core. MOTIV has taken the proven Coercion HFS cover, which is found on both the Jackal Ghost and Forge, and merged it with their legendary benchmark Sigma core! That is right MOTIV faithfuls! We have a piece that has a high-friction, high-powered cover stock combined with a very controllable benchmark core in the Sigma core! The beauty of this combination gives us the ability to utilize a more aggressive cover-stock on a more modest lane condition with a more controlled down-lane motion that a benchmark core can provide.

I will be the first to admit, the Rogue Assassin can be VERY misleading fresh out of the box! The box finish on the Assassin is 3000 Grit LSS but when you open the box, it looks as if it was just hit with 500 to 1000 grit dry sanding! The first few shots with this ball did appear like the ball was constantly going to go dead right (or dead left if your right-handed). Once a slight lane shine is established on the Assassin, this one became something special! One of the challenges I face on my league nights is opening-up my angles without sacrificing carry. Many times, I would attempt to play the inside part of the lane and finding the pocket was not the difficult part, it was consistent carry. With a 70X5.5X40 layout on my Rogue Assassin, I found my answer! This layout out allowed me to really open up my angles from the inside part of the lane with great control and continuation down lane. With only 4 games on the Assassin, I snap off a 300. The type of ball role I saw with this one generates excellent pin action on the lighter/swishing hits but also packed quite the punch on those solid hits! I will say that on those solid hits, there were rarely any pins left on the deck after the ball cleared the deck itself. What makes the Assassin such an awesome benchmark piece is the amount of hitting power and reaction it can offer but has a very controllable/predicable shape down-lane. Some believe that you need to sacrifice aggression for predictability. The Rogue Assassin may quietly say this is not true, but its actions very loudly shouts NO!

    Strike Without Warning

    Layout:
    90 x 4” x 25

What happens when you take the Coercion HFS coverstock from the Jackal Ghost, finish it at 3000 LSS, and then wrap it around the famous Sigma core (2.47RG, .047Diff)? You get a combination that gives no warning to the pins or your opponents. The Rogue Assassin is a solid medium to medium-heavy benchmark ball that gives the predictability, versatility, and control that is to be expected with that moniker. This cover/core combination provides good traction throughout the lane allowing you to read the pattern well while still retaining enough energy to drive through to the pit with power.

I put a 4” pin on mine as I wanted to utilize the power of the core a little more than the cover (I love the Sigma core). In tandem with that, by placing the pin higher up I was trying to get a little more torque off of the spot when it was time for the roll phase of the Assassin’s reaction. The final product produced was exactly as I thought it would be. On the typical medium house condition that I have thrown this on, the ball is a beast in terms of overall power. The midlane read is quite strong, really blending out the pattern from the early skid-snap effect it tends to have. Given this early revving action, the back end of the Assassin is quite tame, producing a smooth and controlled shape. At no time in any of my shots have I seen this ball jump early or take an unannounced lane-change left. While I have been able to get to the pocket from quite a few angles, this ball shines its brightest when you can keep your line more in front of you rather than trying to launch it across many boards. I will say, though, that I was pleasantly surprised that a little hand change at my release actually allowed me to open up and carry even more than expected, truly showing off the versatility this ball provides to a multitude of styles.

If you need a benchmark ball that gives you the power and predictability needed to read, and take advantage of, fresher conditions, the Rogue Assassin is tough to beat.
