View Privacy PolicySince having shoulder surgery this past spring to repair 3 tears, I was unsure how or when my bowling season would go! I decided to go to a 14lb. ball vs. my normal 15lb. ball. With surgery just 5 months ago I didn't know how the shoulder would hold up! I bought the 14lb. Thrill knowing that I wouldn't be at normal speed and I have been extremely satisfied with it. Shot a 300 game with it just 2 weeks into the fall bowling season. Love all my Motiv equipment! I will never buy anything else!

Good price for a controllable ball on drier Lanes.

The MOTIV THRILL is a true light oil ball. It features the FLUX core and the Agility XP Reactive cover. It comes in 5500 LSP. In 16lb it has an RG of 2.57 with a max diff. of .013 and in 15lb it has an RG of 2.57 with a max diff. of 0.15.
This ball has been a lot of fun to bowl with. I have one ball drilled pin high and one ball drilled pin below. The pin up ball gives me a little more length but once this ball makes its move to the pocket, you better watch out. It hits hard and continues through the pocket just like the high end balls. The pin down ball give me an earlier reaction on the lanes when I am seeing the pin up ball coming into the pocket a little late. These two compliment each other well because of the different drills and this was what I was hoping for.

Review:
The Thrill is a new entry in the Light Oil category for Motiv. The Thrill is available in two attractive colors, Reddish/ Wine and a Blue/ Purple. For those of us who thought the Hydra was too strong for dry lanes the Thrill may be just what we needed. The Thrill features a new lower flare core for control combined with a high RG to help get the ball down the lane. This new core is wrapped in a lower friction pearl cover. I have a lower rev rate and on our wetter house shot it was too weak but at the end of the day on total burn I could go down the boards and had plenty of length with a nice rev and flip in the back end. I have not changed the surface because I feel this would negate the intent of the ball. The Thrill has an entry level price point but is not limited to that group alone. I passed mine around to some higher rev folks and some no thumb bowlers and they were able to gain a nice reaction that did not over hook early or late. I also think bowlers with slow speeds could benefit from this Ball. The hit was also better than expected. A bowler can purchase the Thrill as their first reactive ball and get much more than they paid for. The Thrill was stronger than my Burgundy Tank on the dry but not as strong as my new Covert Tank. The Thrill read much later than the Covert but had more entry angle. So far the Red/Pink or technically the Magenta/Wine is the crowd favorite color.
Summary:
The Thrill is a true dry lane ball.
Two nice color combinations available.

The thrill is the perfect bang for your buck release bowlers should be looking for. This piece gives you incredible length, it’s very smooth and still gives you that downlane energy for really solid pin action and carry. Overall I’d say the thrill is 4/5 boards weaker than the look my hydra would give me. If you bowl on older wood houses, or houses with a lot of friction to start, the thrill is the perfect piece you’ve been looking to add to that motiv arsenal. Don’t hesitate to get yourself a THRILL, you will be kicking yourself if you don’t.
