What can I say about the Purple Tank, except shots fired! I am beyond excited that MOTIV now has this urethane on the market. With Urethane being such an important part in today's game, and such a tool to have, this ball is a great piece.
With this layout that I put on it I found it to be a little early with a very predictable continuous motion downlane. Now with this being urethane I found that when the fronts went away I would lose my angle by having to move right too much, so I drilled up a second one and put an identical layout with this one being 5.5 instead of 4.5. This allowed me to open up the lane much better when the fronts went away and keep that continuous motion. I'm extremely excited to have this ball in my bag everywhere I go!

Been waiting for a full urethane ball (don't get me wrong, I love all my microcell tanks) and now it has arrived. I shined it up a little and it plays right up the track, down and in. If I miss a little left it holds in the oil, if I miss a little right it'll hook enough without over reacting to get back into the pocket. One of the older MOTIV lines, the Tanks are the go to bowling balls for control on hard conditions. The newest addition to this line is the Purple Tank.
The Tank series changed dramatically with Microcell Polymer technology. Microcell Polymer is now the solution for the ball motion gap between reactive resin and urethane. Microcell Polymer does not replace urethane completely. MOTIV has been looking for a special urethane cover stock that provides traction on modern lane surfaces conditioned with the high volume oil patterns competitive bowlers see so regularly.
MOTIV is introducing the brand new Purple Solid Urethane cover stock. It builds on the technology of Microcell Polymer, but it eliminates the oil absorption that causes MCP covers to shape down lane. This new cover allows the Purple Tank to show incredible control along with the aggressive traction seen from previous MCP balls like the Tank Blitz. It is ready to dominate when true urethane is needed in battle.
To boost the control factor, the Flux core is employed on the Purple Tank to lower the track flare potential.

Drilled it today about 3 hours before league. So I wasn’t sure what to expect but boy was it a pleasant surprise. Started with with several strikes right away. All night I never moved more than 2 boards. Shot a very nice 707 series. Also drilled the Desert Tank at the same time but never used it. Didn’t need to. The Purple was great all night. To be honest it looked just like my Blue Urethane Hammer from the 70’s. Same shape and predictability. Very impressed with this ball. This was a THS. Saw a lot of splits tonight but not from me. Good job Motiv.
I highly recommend this ball. Watch several reviews and have heard nothing negative from anyone.

The Purple Tank is a light oil ball which is true urethane! This ball features the high RG, low flaring Flux weight block which helps the Purple tank have maximum control both in the mid-lane and on the back part of the lane. When facing the high viscosity oil and flat sport patterns in our modern game, Motiv now has an awesome option to help all bowlers get the control they need to attack the pattern and strike in this environment.
