One of the longest running MOTIV® product lines, the Tanks are the premiere bowling balls for control on the harshest conditions. The latest addition to this legendary line is the Purple Tank™.  

The Tank™ series changed forever with the introduction of Microcell Polymer technology. While Microcell Polymer (MCP) is now recognized as the solution for the ball motion gap between reactive resin and urethane, MCP does not replace urethane completely. With that in mind, MOTIV® has been in pursuit of a truly special urethane cover stock that provides adequate traction on modern lane surfaces conditioned with the high volume, high viscosity oil patterns competitive bowlers see so regularly.  

Now, MOTIV® is unveiling the brand new Purple Solid Urethane cover stock. It builds on the technology of Microcell Polymer, but it eliminates the oil absorption that causes MCP covers to shape down lane. This new cover allows the Purple Tank™ to display incredible control along with the aggressive traction seen from previous MCP balls like the Tank™ Blitz. It is ready to dominate when true urethane is needed in battle.

To boost the control factor, the Flux™ core is employed on the Purple Tank™ to lower the track flare potential. Previously used in the Desert Tank™, the Flux™ core is the proven solution for wet/dry conditions when the bowler needs to use shallow angles.

When to Use

Urethane bowling balls are now a staple for use on difficult oil patterns, short oil sport conditions, and for rev dominant bowlers seeking control when resin is just too much. The Purple Tank™ is prepared for battle on all these conditions because it displays outstanding traction in the mid-lane with the control down-lane that only urethane can provide.

    Down and in king!

    Been waiting for a full urethane ball (don't get me wrong, I love all my microcell tanks) and now it has arrived. I shined it up a little and it plays right up the track, down and in. If I miss a little left it holds in the oil, if I miss a little right it'll hook enough without over reacting to get back into the pocket. Got it on release day and haven't put it down yet. #purpleTank #teamMotiv

    The Tank series changed dramatically with Microcell Polymer technology. Microcell Polymer is now the solution for the ball motion gap between reactive resin and urethane. Microcell Polymer does not replace urethane completely.     Purple Tank

    Drilled it today about 3 hours before league. So I wasn’t sure what to expect but boy was it a pleasant surprise. Started with with several strikes right away. All night I never moved more than 2 boards. Shot a very nice 707 series. Also drilled the Desert Tank at the same time but never used it. Didn’t need to. The Purple was great all night. To be honest it looked just like my Blue Urethane Hammer from the 70’s. Same shape and predictability. Very impressed with this ball. This was a THS. Saw a lot of splits tonight but not from me. Good job Motiv.
    I highly recommend this ball. Watch several reviews and have heard nothing negative from anyone.

    True Urethane Purple Tank

    The Purple Tank is a light oil ball which is true urethane! This ball features the high RG, low flaring Flux weight block which helps the Purple tank have maximum control both in the mid-lane and on the back part of the lane. When facing the high viscosity oil and flat sport patterns in our modern game, Motiv now has an awesome option to help all bowlers get the control they need to attack the pattern and strike in this environment.

    Purple Tank is Amazing

    The Purple Tank is a special piece in the line up. It provides total control and reliability on the lanes. I have been throwing this piece a lot since I received my 1st one. From tournaments to league it’s been getting a lot of use. I used a 4.5’ pin layout to help it get down the lane while allowing it to still create shape off the end of the pattern. The cover is also very versatile in cover changes. Shined up it’s able to store energy and shape more off the end of the pattern and with lower surface it’s able to start up earlier keep that smooth traditional urethane shape. The purple Tank I’ve been using the most is at 3k surface. If you’re looking for a controllable piece or something for higher friction backends check out the Purple Tank today!
